    Sad news from Hazelwood.

Alan Jones, coach to so many but probably best known as Jo Durie and Elena Baltacha's mentor, has died this morning.

He had been diagnosed with liver and pancreatic cancer only a month ago.

Typical of the man he wanted no sympathy.

He leaves a huge void, both at Ridge Avenue N21 and in GB tennis.

My last chat with him was as I was arriving at the club and he was leaving on his bicycle.

As usual we started with football,he was still worried that his beloved Wolves may be relegated. I told him he was crackers!

He was on Tottenham's books as a lad but found,by playing in the local park that he was rather good at tennis.

Sincere condolences to Ryan and all of his friends and family.

    RIP Alan.

    Yes she has.

Think Kasatkina was injured which is a shame for a competitive match.

Yet again Collins' acceptance speech lasts longer than the Iliad.
Shelton wins in Houston and Hubie H in Estoril.
    Monte today...

Djokovic broken another record. The oldest world number 1 in ATP history.
Federer had been the oldest player to top the ATP rankings, having been 36 years, 10 months, 16 days in his final day in top spot on June 24, 2018. Djokovic, who turns 37 on May 22, has now bettered that accomplishment and might extend it further.

On clay so no surprise I guess but still been disappointing for the Brits recently.

    Not really.
Both have done well on the dirt, although both have dropped a level since last year.

Draper misses a good opportunity to beat HH.
Always a good draw to play someone who's just won a tournament.
Draper played a weak tiebreaker in the final set and the chance had gone.

    Sinner looking formidable.
Tsitsi wins 12 games in a row.
Rune and Nagal interrupted by rain,so too Dimitrov and Kecmanovic.

I get into my car to leave the club.
    I check the Tsitsi score.
    7-5 5-0.
Ah well,I'd like to have seen it but impressive.
I reach the shops, near me and check again, habit I suppose.
    4-5 Zverev serving!
    Extraordinary game tennis.
    7-6 second set to Tsitsi,7-3 and I still didn't see a ball!

Medivet has another meltdown and receives another point penalty in losing to Khachanov.
Humbert in a humdinger against Sonego.
    Set all.
Dividing the crowd, part Italian, part French as you'd expect in Monte.

Looks like the French man will win .

Rune won 2 two 3 setters today - hopefully he will have a good rest tonight .

Not sure Dimi approved of his Lazarus like recovery from supposed injury.

He'll need to be Superman if he has any kind of injury against Sinner.

Tsitsi in control against KK,who needed treatment for a hip flexor /groin problem.
Sinner in three and another dreadful piece of officiating, this time in the second set tie break at 3-2 Rune.
    Fortunately he won the set.
ND in two tough sets v the Demon.
Ruud and the South Bank Show theme tune about to start.
Meanwhile another torturous LTA/DBS experience for me.
I really must remember to use the update service when the blasted thing arrives.
Ofsted application for childcare approval for holiday camps and the drawing down of vouchers, a breeze by comparison.
    I think...

Ruud is a Nordic racing driver.
More sponsorship patches than most cars and his father is worse.
    Looks daft.

True although Boulter absolutely battered by Parry, who is both extremely talented and very stylish at the same time.
Definitely one to watch in the women's game.

    Lovely single handed backhand.

Set all, Dinner and Tsitsi but Dinner is improving as the match develops.

Tsitsi had five bps for 4-5 but couldn't take one.

Sinner, seemingly home, suffers from cramp/hamstring/quad injury.

Tsitsi wins four games to win 7-5 in the third.

Umpire and line judge miss a definite double fault and Sinner didn't challenge.

Would have been 5-1 and probably no come back.

Tough for Parry who is a delight to watch.

    So much variety.

    ND ends with a double.
    Looked knackered at the end.
He won't worry too much as early in the clay season but he is 37 so ...

    Excellent week for Tsitsipas.

    Strong peformances.

  32. I Blame Pozzo

    I Blame Pozzo First Team

    Tsitsi wins 1&4.
Ruud strangely agitated and not building his points, perhaps an after effect from beating ND?
Tsitsi mixing it up well with serve and volley until at 2 all 40-0 Ruud changes his return position and fifteen minutes later Tsitsi holds for 3-2.
Two iffy points at 4-5 and Tsitsi becomes the fifth man to win Monte on three occasions.
Borg,Nadal, Muster and Nastase being the others.
