This infuriates me. His basically walking away from the Tories to save their face. He knows full well that anything handed over to the Police will take more than 6 months to investigate and it will all be swept away from the public eye when it finally all comes out. Labour are just as bad on this sort of thing, well apart from the money and alleged "bad People" bit. No public money He didn't report his kidnapping to plod Borrowed money from a colleague. If he doesn't pay it back it would be a civil matter I'd imagine. He'll no longer be an MP and as he's not a wealthy man no doubt faces a very bleak future. I think its hard not to feel a little sympathy for anyone that gets in to this kind of mess - only a little though
If his claiming that his been locked up in a flat while bad people have demanded money from him, then surely that's Kidnap as well as 3 or 4 other possible offences. Whether he reports it or not, now that its in the public domain then its likely to be looked at. If he possibly, or probably, made it all up to pay his "friend's" then i'm sure he'll be done for theft in some way.
But if he - or anyone else doesn't wish to press changes surely then plod won't get involved? I just can't see what crime has been committed. Having said that, you may be right. I think it would probably need him to report it, especially as it didn't come to the attention of the police at the time. There's no reason why they couldn't get involved but ultimately there's enough crimes with actual victims they don't have capacity to investigate, let alone ones that don't.
In order to see some semblance of justice in this matter, the great British public will either need Menzies' paid Brazilian escort to pipe up (own jokes here please...) or rely on the RSPCA to get the dog plied with alcohol allegedly by our wonky, soon to be, ex-MP to let Rover off the leash in order to collar the reprobate.

The defence spending increases will cost at least £6 billion. There is no way that can be paid for, in the short term at least, without cuts. Nevertheless, Labour will now be hounded by the press until it meets that pledge or be accused of letting Vlad ride his tanks up Windsor High Street.
