Does that mean those 2 have to leave then, or does it just show how important it was to get him over this season as he arrived before the barriers went down ?

Last one, once they've got a permit via ESC it stays with them (until their contract expires I think), so they'll be fine for next season and for the future, so good to get it done now.

Good but I guess it will mean getting young prospects over from remote parts of the planet will be tough now - and this was the one area where Pozzo recruitment generally excelled.

Depends really, going forward it makes recruitment from some parts of the world (mostly Africa and some of the fringe European leagues) a bit easier provided we get a decent amount of ESC slots (gained by giving mins to homegrown players). So that's something we'll need to start doing more, according to transfermarkt we've given the most amount of minutes to non-english players in the entire league, although I'm not sure how the the ESC rules manage players with duel nationality as we've got a fair few of those that could count as HG that have played a decent amount of mins (Lewis, TDB, Ince, Ngakia) that could change the ratio.

There’s a few people worrying that this may not be happening as he’s deleted this photo from his social media and unfollowed the club to boot.

Hopefully the club have told him to do so for their own reasons - but just as much chance that he’s backed out because a better option has presented itself I guess.

He did have a medical so let’s hope it’s the former.

Maybe it was us who pulled the plug?

Doesn't seem as likely I know.

He looks a bit like Ismaila Sarr after being tied to a rack.

Yeah, could be. Can never rule such things out - would only take his agent changing or current agent wanting a bomb in fee’s etc at the last minute.

I’m hoping it’s something (deleting photos and unfollowing) that happened a long while back (soon after happening) because the club caught wind and told him to take it down. Seems odd to me that people are talking about it on the same day a video of Doumbia has been shown - almost as if that sparked someone to go and look at Daga’s social media for the first time in a while.

It's in our gift. Pick more English players and we'll earn more ESC slots.

Hmmm ....which English players ? Decent English players are too damn expensive for us to buy - do english loans from prem clubs and top end champ clubs count ?

It would be completely mental and surely against the spirit of the rules if English players like that don't count.

There's no indication that Ince, TDB or Ngakia wouldn't count though as they haven't represented another country at senior level, so they still definitely count as English Qualifying.

Lewis might be an issue though due to his NI caps, despite him having been born and raised in England. Though I don't know what the actual rule is on that.

I do think it would be crazy though if he'd be excluded - because as I've said before such a ruling may then act as a deterrent to young English players who will never actually play for England to start playing any international football for another lesser side as it could lessen their value.

Yes, is he allowed to "take part in a training session" if he's not our player yet ?

I expect he stood on the touchline and took notes...

"Lewis looks a bit naff, thank god he's off..."
    "Cleverley looks a decent bloke..."
"How did Bayo miss from a yard out? Is that why I'm here?"
"That big bulky bloke looks pretty menacing, reminds me of Harlaand"

Probably/possibly in the same way trialists can take part in training, friendlies or age level games for clubs they're not signed to. There must be an industry standard insurance practice which allows such things.

As you can tell, I've no idea!

Clubs tend to be a lot more relaxed with who they let train with them, sometimes you get people who just come to get fitness

I thought there was an issue a season or two back when we hadn’t yet signed a player and he took part in training sessions ? Maybe I’m mistaken.

Maybe "guest" players sign a waiver that says if they get injured during training then they are not covered insurance wise and that it is on him ?
    Just guessing !.....

"See you in the summer, Mamadou" meaning he got injured and is out for 8 weeks with a hamstring.

I imagine the issue of whether he’s allowed to train with us is down to if he has a work permit or not.

Exactly what I was about to say. If he doesn't have a work permit (or equivalent), he legally can't work or presumably undertake any work-like activities in this country.

Yes i thought the issue was due to the fact that a players couldn't take part in training with us when he was still a contracted player of another club so could only "watch". Maybe it wasn't us ......or maybe I dreamt the whole thing up ? Anyway it clearly isn't an issue so I'll shut up !

    Nah it’s valid.

There’s obviously things in football that aren’t really known widely - like when a player on loan is injured, he goes back to his parent club for treatment sometimes etc. How players on loan to non-league sides can still play for their parent clubs U-21’s.

I know Cucho was over a few times to visit when he joined but never took part in training. But then he did take part in training when he visited in the season before he joined full-time. I always assumed that was work permit related and he became eligible at some point that season.
