Based on what I've seen, I could get in ahead of Lazaar, and I'm 61 overweight and have a dodgy knee.
Reports in Italy suggesting an agreement has been reached with Young. Looks like he’ll be a Watford player next season.
It’s been agreed apparently, so I guess it’s not important. To be fair, he did say that in a recent interview as well.
"You make me feel so young, Ashley Young I hear the deal is almost done Can you play tomorrow now We'd all somehow be very appreciative". EJ Myrow and Gordon aged 17 &3/4
It genuinely baffles me that we've managed to score as many as we have from corners this season, after we have typically been so dreadful from dead-ball situations since the days of Toszer and Almen 'God' Abdi. If there is any truth in this, it'll be nice to think we may carry some threat in these areas once again, and have some competence beyond Masina at left-back.
Tbf, I think a lot of that is down us generally having a lot more of the play than other teams, a team like Rotherham might well be more dangerous than us, but they might only have half the set pieces we do. We also scored a lot of set pieces early in the season, and some of our goals, like Hughes against Derby and Bristol City, go down as set piece goals even though the goals came a few phases later
Good news we need strengthening on the left side. The dream team will surely be Young delivering balls for big Stefano.
Hopefully this will just be a one year deal as he turns 36 in July. He has played a decent amount of games for the best team in Italy this season at least which is promising.
A one year deal, with an option of an additional year, exercisable by either party, with the option itself also having a further one year option... Very Watford.
Given that Inter wanted him to extend for a year, this would be a good signing for us. Could probably cover multiple positions, either full back or a bit further up the pitch. And seems driven by him, which is nice.
Weirdest situation ever From his interviews it seems that we don't even have a choice, he is just going to come and play for us whether we ask him to or not Does he want to be paid? I don't recall anything like this happening before
It looks like AY will be coming and I see no reason why Masina should not be kept also, as those two together will go a long way to strengthening our left side. We could even possibly play Ashley in front of Masina and they could form a similar partnership to Sarr and Kiko on the right. Big Ken would be a decent back up to cover for both of them with Zinc also acting as cover on the left to.
Between AY and Masina that's a fairly solid pairing for a lower PL team at our left flank for the first time since Holebas and Masina. The two aren't mutually exclusive either.
I was thinking this. I cannot ever seem to remember a player for anybody who is still be offered new deals by a big club choose to go and play for a much smaller team just because he supports them. Nice to see and would love him to come back but do I find it odd
I don't think Masina is quite good enough for the Prem. Happy to be proved wrong however. I'd want to find another option as well as him and Young.
Give him time. He might develop his physicality and confidence once he signs a 6-year contract at Watford.
I used to say that in his early days, I also thought McNamee was better than him, (shows what I know) then one season he toughened up and was a total revelation.
