Of course if there's any chance of signing him we should break the bank in order to do so, but I feel that ship has sailed. I'd be stunned if he went to Newcastle though.

Valencia and Spurs are more his likely destination. Surprised United aren't sniffing around.

    Paco Alcacer is pure quality.

Forced out by Sancho, Reus and Thorgen Hazard. Reus is playing the striking role with effect.

He will go to a much bigger club Newcastle, that’s why we have a chance.

It was reported that he had a massive bust up with the manager at Dortmund and their relationship is done. Once Dortmund signed Haaland, it was the final nail in the coffin. I’m pretty sure a few weeks even his agent stated something public about leaving Dortmund.

For £25mil, definitely worth it. However, once Deeney is not in the team, our team crap themselves because their is no leadership on pitch. This is what kills us. When Deeney is on, the players pull their weight. When he isn’t, they don’t listen to each other.

We need to buy someone that has a real leadership quality because right now all we have is Deeney.

I wonder if now having a manager with real leadership qualities who ensures players pull their weight will mitigate against this issue a bit?

I’d hope so. But we do lack leaders.

Before we even get to the ability question, I was pretty gobsmacked during the week when Gray was captain over Kabasele.

First link has just been on TalkSport2.

Had an agent on who said Alcacer is being touted around. Newcastle have shown strong interest along with Valencia, but it’s believed they have to sell players just to afford the loan fee, let alone what he’d cost in the summer - would be his first choice but it’s unlikely to be an option open to him.

When asked about others, they said United and Spurs have other targets. And Chelsea want a big-money striker like Cavani. We were quoted as a further option but Gray and Success would have to leave first.

Let’s be honest. The limit of Giraldi’s scope is sifting through the Udinese squad so no sure why we think we are in the race here.

Why would we loan him to NUFC ? That would be just crazy.

...if Rodrigo goes to Barca first which isn’t a done deal yet.

That being said, it’s irrelevant either way as he won’t be coming to us.

I’d say we have a 50% chance of Rose and 50% with Gibson. Those are the players we seem to be in for. Gray will likely stay and we’ll go with the attackers we’ve got.

Think Wilmot will eventually wear the captains armband. The way Troy talked him up after the league cup game was very encouraging.

Troy is also very aware that the club comes first and if they find someone with better qualities then he would happily fight for his place. Right now I wouldn’t replace Troy with Paco but I would replace paco with gray and success, but I doubt paco would like that.

With Welbeck on the mend I can’t see Gino forking out 25m on a forward, as much as I believe that he would be a massive signing for us.

I see us getting a defender or 2 through the door and PA to end up at Wolves.

Going to Villarreal for £19.3m apparently.

Far bigger chance of Chalobah being next captain in my opinion.

And captaincy aside, there’s no way a signing like Alcacer should be behind Deeney.
    All hypothetical anyway!

Thought they'd get more than that tbh. Championship strikers have been quoted higher than him.

In today's money, that's a bit of a bargain. I'm surprised a PL club hasn't snatched him up for that money, unless he preferred to go to a Spanish club/ has an attitude problem.

I admit I haven't seen him much this year, but I never really got the sense that the mental side of the game was Chalobah's strongpoint.

Technically he's quality and I'm sure he's really likeable, but I reckon other players would be more likely to take the leadership part of the game in their stride. Unless Pearson thinks it would give him more confidence.

Off to Spain and no EPL clubs appear interested or maybe he isn't interested? Maybe clubs think he is unsuitable for the league? Almost everyone crying out for a goalscorer. Just surprised.

Imagine a Premier League club of 5 seasons spending £19m on a proven, top level goalscorer in this day and age?

Why do that when we can just get Okaka back on some dodgy deal from Udinese or sign another south american youngster who'll never play for us?

Pozzo's have taken us as far as they can or are willing to.

I heard a European football journalist on the radio talking about him and he said he didn't think he would succeed in the Premier League. Maybe that's what the clubs think as well. There must be a reason he was never a starter in the German leagues

Not having heard it myself, I would presume that he likely made some kind of attemptedly banterous off-the-cuff remark on some radio show, mostly containing words to the effect of 'was a bad England manager' far more than 'glad he's dead'. But devoid of context you can make anything sound like it was uttered by the devil himself.

Then again, I could be completely wrong; he could very well be the devil himself.

Basically when England got the semis in Russia he said what a contrast to the bad old days of Taylor in terms of the style of football.

He is a Spurs fan ..

England's big advantage this time - no chance of appointing Graham Taylor and messing the thing up........

then he went on to defend himself.

When Taylor was appointed I was genuinely horrified. Bought all the Sunday papers in the hope of some hammer. Almost all the idiots thought he was the right man for the job......

...... Brian Glanville, bless him, was the stand out exception, previewing the chaos to come. It was the day I thought to myself -"I have to get into this lark. If these people honestly have faith in Taylor then it's time to storm the barricades"

don't see what his death has to do with anything. Relevant because 1990 was the last time we reached the semis
he should have resigned with honour when he saw how out of his depth he was.
