    The apathy of these bullcrap non signings. I remember the good old days of getting excited by us signing players and calling up the Hornet Hotline (Your direct line. Inside Vicarage Road) to hear the confirmation.

    Roger Willis, Steve Butler, Perry Digweed....

    Christ I wasted my parents phone bill over any old transfer gossip!

    Back at last. He's been constantly linked to moves abroad to several clubs at around the same fee which is what Boca see as his market value. Is he worth it ? Personally I do not think so. He has not had a great season or matured as a player in the way many expected. Perhaps the reason his transfer value has not risen.

    As a player he is tenacious and works hard but he is lightweight and plays in two main positions. Being two footed although his primary foot is his right he either supplies crosses reasonably decently from the right or prefers to use his pace to cut inside on the left and hurl shots at goal. He used to do these things well but his inconsistency when he first started has returned this season. Is it an injury niggle or lack of confidence ? He is playing in a pretty stacked team in the Primera so that cannot be his team mates fault. Indeed the coach has pushed him as a secondary striker to try and make use of his pace but that has not worked either.

    His dribbling skills are average as well preferring to use direct pace. How would that fare in the PL. Not so well now as compared to the past. Certainly he would get people excited but then disappear for large parts of the game. Perhaps Gracia could manage him and coach him to being a better player and restore his confidence after the WC debacle which seemed to affect him more than most. Maybe he can be compared to Deulofeu in his former inconsistency and disappearing in matches but scoring fantastic goals now and then to remind people he is on the pitch. If we sell Gerard then we would have the funds to secure him.

    Personally I was very disappointed that we did not sign Pussetto who I think is a better player at a much cheaper price. Instead Pozzo sent him to Udinese. For £25M I would sign Saravia, Barboza and Nicolas Dominguez three very able and up and coming players from the Primera. A RB, CB and CM/DM with only Dominguez not really fully mature but having played some sixty games for Velez and only just twenty and already the leader of it's midfield in the wake of the departure of Caseres to Villareal. I do not see any reason why we cannot make more forays into the Argentine market. And with the very physical and tough nature of it these players would have little difficulty settling in to the PL with a Spanish manager and compatriots at the club. Wake up Girardi.

    Any chance of us getting Lucas Robertone or even Thiago Almada out of Vélez?!

    Not been linked but I know they are amongst the tips for the top of the game. Strike while the rest sleep on them maybe!

    Velez Sarsfield were in the doldrums but under Heinze he has brought through a core of very able young players out of necessity. Robertone is an elegant classy central midfielder. Less of a defensive player than Dominguez but just as clever with the ball. They complement each other very well. Great at set pieces as well although physically he does need to work a bit more on his stamina and not fading at the end of games.I would not mind us getting in there. Then there is also Alvaro Barreal a little midfield dynamo who was superb for Argentina in the COTIF tournament and amazingly was left out of the u20 squad. He is another from the Velez academy.

    Almada is a bag of tricks which sometimes comes off and sometimes does not. He is very slight but very gifted but mentally all over the shop trying too hard at times. Maturity will come mentally. Physically I don't think he would settle into the PL. In my opinion we should have some sort of link with Velez which is a great cantera. Abu Dhabi stole Benjamin Garre for a pittance from them and ICAS unfortunately supported them.

    Forgot to mention Robertone is contracted to Velez until next summer which makes sense of course for Velez. Anything around nine million would be enough to prise him away.
