A really good example of the sort of communication that goes on. Of course, what we do have from next season is the actual referee involved in that match. Or rather the EFL has him for a bit but I fully expect he'll be in the PL within a couple of seasons.
Brilliant. I see a huge amount of benefits to introducing this. Abuse from players will reduce if they know it'll be publicised, and fans get a better understanding of what goes on during a game by way of communication and explanation. It'll never happen though...
I like it. It’ll make commentators redundant and every spectator watching will be made aware of the real rules of the game not the ones made up **** pundits/blokes in the pub.
More ruining of the so beautiful game. I want to debate at the pub at what the referee was saying during the exchanges. That's what it's all about.
It’ll stop me having to overhear the dreary conversations by tanked-up pub bores and that can only be a good thing. Football is a great game to play, it is ok to watch but talking about it is among the most dull of human activities.

Remember this? What happens when you mic up a ref and forget to tell the players. The Tony Adams "I'm frustrated ref" line was repeated often afterwards with much mirth.
The reason we'll never have this is there's a world of difference between the aussie league and the premier league. Imagine listening to Warnock and Howe and Mourinho and Dyche whinge at the 4th official. And when the ref still makes a mistake you'll hear the likes of Wilf Zaha or Harry Arter crying or f'ing and blinding at the refs.
It would be good if players and managers respected the ref in the same way as in rugby. It's the best thing about a sport I dislike.
Yes, however it's certainly better than it used to be 20 years ago, but I agree that there is some way to go.
How bad was it then!? Someone like Ashley Young would last 5 minutes on a football pitch if the dissent rule was applied - but then you could probably say that for most top 6 players and managers.

VAR is going to be fascinating to watch next season. It has been shambolic in its use so far. Refereeing standards have dramatically declined over the past couple of years in England, giving referees an alternative way to make incorrect decisions will only make them look worse. Sure it'll tidy up on offsides but was that a major problem before? The diving, dissent and timewasting that has crept into the game in recent years is easily solved without VAR, but I fear VAR won't assist with any of those three things. It is a disaster waiting to happen.
Let's hope they are better trained and less reliant on it than the females officials have been ! I am not sure they have made a decision of their own yet ! Should only be used for clear cut errors - not debatable ones that are subjective.
Indeed. The North Korean ref should be held up as a shining example of how disgraceful VAR is. Completely baffled her and ruined the game. They never have these problems in the North Korean Kim Jong Un Women's Premier League. Plus they get to debate things down the gulag after the game. Which is what it's all about.
VAR and the refs from the Womens World Cup would make next seasons relegation battle thoroughly enjoyable.
