I felt like we drifted back to the Perryman era. That was 100% pure crap But hay who cares ? we're through !
Both groups of fans walking from the ground and there were quite few times when it kicked but in fairness the old bill were all over it. Saw a couple of blokes with bloody noses. Probably expected but not great nonetheless. Scenery is also crap
From the QPR board "the difference in class was there for all to see" I invite all Hornets and Hornettas to just sit back and contemplate for a moment. You remember when Helgusson belonged to them and we had to have him begging on our knees from the giants QPR, who were lording it up? You remember Lee Cook, the big QPR fan, who couldn't wait to leave us? Now the world has turned upside down. Now we can all see the difference in class. Obvious. Right there in front of your eyes. We should bask in these moments while we are enjoying them.
I think that’s 3 goals conceded now in the last 8 games. The Bournemouth game was a wake up call defensively. Think we look much more solid. Just need some creative spark further up the pitch.
Beggars belief that Kraftwerk envisaged personal computing in the 70s. Not too long after some prophet reckoned the world market for computers would be 5. US govt 2, Russians 1, IBM 1, latest Bond baddy the other one.
Not a great game but QPR made their intentions clear from the start. Good goal and another legitimate one disallowed. I'm glad their Holloway look a like defender doesn't have a left foot! Very pleased to be in the Q/F. Have a good weekend everyone. McClaren hasn't aged well has he?
Just back, got to love an evening away game in town, cup game a bonus.Been trying to work out what our tactics were since KO. Pass pass pass pass give the ball away win it back pass pass pass repeat. No service to Gray whatsover. QPR score in the 2nd half and we lose that. However, they didn't and we had the quality to hang on to the ball long enough to grab it. Cracking atmosphere in the away end. Outside just handbags from what I saw, lots of verbal not much more.
I don’t think we can worry too much about the performance. I think it’s actually quite pleasing that in every cup game we’ve pretty much done the minimum that’s been required and still won each game so far. I think that speaks volumes about how far we’ve come as a clubs and where we currently are. We’ve never really had to break sweat and never really looked troubled, but not really played that well either.
I thought we were really poor first half - through Javis tactics. QPR dropped deep whenever we took hold of the ball and we lacked the creativity to play through it (similar to the Burnley game). Luckily the Capoue goal from a set-piece put us ahead. Was sceptical of Javi's subs as well, initially thought they were too negative but it quickly emerged that they were inspired. QPR were ****ed and couldn't match Doucoures energy in the middle and we took control of the game. Overall a mixed display but we're through which is the main thing!
Don't understand why people are criticizing the performance? It's against a scrappy team in QPR - You want a win, and no injuries to main players. We've done that. I also believe we haven't conceded a goal in the FA Cup this season...
Great support tonight and fantastic vocals from a noisy classic FA Cup match. QPR wanted it more especially in the first half. We looked very much off the pace and I really thought it was theirs to win. Thankfully we have a damn good defence abd if Foster can make saves of Gome's stature when he reaches his twilight playing days i cant see Dhalburg gettig a look in. Great goal by Capoue although a tad undeserved on all QPRs effort but we didnt care. Second half was very much them trying to play through us but we coped very well especially again defensivly. They sat back too deep and any long ball was easily dealt with. Bar that late miss at the end we showed real determination tonight and although we didnt play as well as we can, we grafted it out. We have played twice as well and lost in the past. Javis gane management was on par tonight and yes they had chances but lacked the quality. Nice fans too, spoke to a few on the way back and most tbought the result was about right. Enjoy your weekend guys. Our work is done early so we can sit back from 12.30 tomorrow and see how everyone else does. Job done lads QPR will be fine too, bit lime us they just need one or two new faces.
Boring game but buzzing to be through. Praying for a favourable tie. Ken Sema is the worst player to regularly start for us since Jurado. No 360 or flip flap will change that (was tidy though!) Will Hughes is. not. a. right. winger. At times he got the ball centrally and looked fantastic, almost walked through their defence by himself. He needs to play in the #10 role or sit in the bench. I could've sworn Gray was onside for his goal. Weird subs. Thought Janmaat and Holebas were excellent. Gomes great on crosses, that #17 Matt Smith was a pain in the ass. Britos also dealt with the threat of Smith really well, forgot how good he was when not playing against pace. Cleverley was really poor, kept letting the ball roll to him even though there was a man on and he'd get dispossessed. Poor touch, wasteful, not a good game. Just don't think this formation is right for our players right now. Gray & Deeney should be starting up top. Deuolofeu & Pereyra out wide. Capoue & Doucs have enough legs in the midfield to allow us to play that formation, we're safe so let's loosen up a bit.. Side note, I think Penaranda threw a strop about not being brought on. Had a moan at something, one of the coaches had a word and Quina's substitution swiftly followed so make of that what you will. COYH
Pretty terrible match. Very few shots on goal. Even fewer on target. But we were solid in defence (on the most part) and killed the game nicely. Gray back to being crap, despite his disallowed goal looking clearly onside. Cleverley poor once again. Doucoure oozed class when he came on. Our fans were the best part of the evening.
If Sema didn’t look so much like Eddie Murphy I’d find it very easy to hate him for being so woefully inadequate .
Newport in the next round , Wimbledon in the Semis and Doncaster in the Final and we ve got ourselves a shiny new trophy to sit next to the Herts Senior Cup in the trophy cabinet.
Even if we lose to Stevenage in the final, we can stare at people with a ‘beat everyone except for Hertfordshire’ look.
Gracia is doing a great job at the moment but what does he see in Sema aside from his pace? I can see why Penaranda might be frustrated. Surprised Quina did not start. Cleverly very rusty. By all accounts Britos' best game in a Watford shirt. You would not know Gray was on the pitch until he put it in the net for the disallowed goal. In the hat though despite my carping. Suppose that is all that matters at this stage.
