    Crystal Palace keeper caught in a photograph gesturing a Nazi salute...even better was his excuse...

    'Yesterday evening I had a meal with my team-mates and we had a grouph photograph. I waved and shouted at the person taking the picture to get on with it and at the same time put my hand over my mouth to make the sound carry.

    'It’s been brought to my attention that frozen in a moment by the camera this looks like I am making a completely inappropriate type of salute.

    'I can assure everyone I would never ever do that and any resemblance to that kind of gesture is absolutely coincidental. Love and peace Wayne.'

    Make your own mind up, however don't you put your hand to the side of your mouth to make your voice carry and the hurry up sign is the rolling wrist/hand with a bent elbow?

    This is a dilemma.
    I'm not sure whether to go to the match as Herr Flick of The Gestapo,The italian Captain ( not Buffon!) or Constable Crabtree.

    If he is claiming to be so stupid that he has no knowledge of Nazism, then he should be made to study the GCSE History syllabus to educate himself.
