Why sell a very good player when we don't have to? If we want to improve, players like AD need to stay.

Fair play to him if he wasn’t really injured. Getting your appendix removed purely to maintain a lie is serious commitment to a con.

Because he wants to play for a bigger club and we need the cash to keep the pozzos happy.

But we have a wealth of quality midfielders. The likes of Quina, Chalobah and Cleverley will want to leave if they don't even get on the bench.

The money from selling Doucouré could be spent on getting a proper striker to replace Gray and Okaka. This would improve the balance of the squad. We will only be able to consolidate our current position if we have a striker who can regularly put the ball in the onion bag.

There's nothing to indicate that Chalobah and Cleverley still are or will be good enough for the direction we're heading. Neither have ever been better than Doucoure.

We should be able to afford to sign a decent striker without selling Doucoure. We spent bugger all in the summer, despite the Richie sale.

We will only be able to consolidate our current position if we keep our current best players. Signing an upgrade at CB and ST, which since the summer have clearly been comfortably our main priorities, could rather help us gain an extra place or two.

Few French football accounts on Twitter saying he has ‘agreed terms’ with PSG and would like the move but won’t push for it. Watford willing to sell for £48m and PSG nowhere near that yet and whether they sell Rabiot this month or not will be the key if they do or not.

Rabiot’s contract up in 6 months so they may try and and cash in if they can.

No reason we should sell to a club like PSG for anything less than that. But given PSG's massive recent spending and supposed problems adhering to FFP regulations I'd be surprised if they'd make a substantial bid. Maybe they are looking too scrounge a deal but if so we should just tell them to look elsewhere. They've also been linked with Lemina, which I'd wager would be a simpler deal for them:

For all the stick he gets this season I think people might be surprised at the hole he leaves in the side if he goes.

If he isn't replaced well we will miss a strong powerful fairly physical player with can pass well and score goals/get chances on his day.

Shame Chalobah probably won't be 100% fit again.

I’m surprised at how quickly people are writing off Chalobah, considering we’ve seen this exact situation play out with Pereyra. This season is really about nothing more for Nate than getting minutes under his belt when he can and working his way back to fitness/full confidence.

If we’re not seeing his best this time next year, after a proper pre-season, I’d agree it’s time to start worrying.

Right now, any high expectations for his performances are unrealistic, given the injury he had. That said, the emergence of Quina (who’ll likely go through his own spell of poor form soon enough) and the return of Tom are going to make it harder for him to get those minutes. If he doesn’t appear against Woking, I’d imagine he’s had a set-back, injury-wise. I just think it’s too soon to start writing him off as somebody who’ll never be the same again.

Being injured is part of an athlete's life.
In a contact sport there is a greater chance of serious long term or career threatening injury.
However what none of us know is how NC deals with the impact on his psyche. He has spoken of this earlier in the season I believe and there is no alternative for him but to keep training, wait for his chance and keep increasing his minutes.
He is of course in a vicious circle in that he needs minutes to get up to speed but cannot be risked for a start in the PL as he hasn't the minutes and isn't up to speed!
Hopefully he will play at Woking and not be clumped by some barbarian centre half.
Patience doesn't appear much in football today but I think we have to give him a large dose.

I said the same thing basically in the Chalobah thread already. But, in relation to Doucoure, the point is that it would be a big risk to sell him and then try and rely on Chalobah to replace him given Chalobah's current issues.

Anyway, there have also been a few rumours in the last few days that PSG's priority for a back-up DM has shifted to Weigl, and so they might only turn to Doucoure should that bid (and also perhaps one for Lemina) fails. Weigl seems a more likely transfer than Doucs given he has recently lost his starting spot at Dortmund, but PSG's coach Tuchel is still a big fan of his from when he was managing BVB. Hopefully PSG snap up either he or Lemina ahead of Doucs.

I mostly agree. I also think he was picked for England as he is still perceived to have a bright future, I doubt they would have picked him if he’s likely to be crocked forever. Its just a bit surprising that he’s not even making the bench at the moment as would’ve thought Cleverly was even less match fit.

I'm not. Given the choice, many of our fans would have disposed of the likes of Doucoure, Gracia and Joka in recent times. Knee-jerk decisions rule the day for many.

Chalobah is coming back from a horrible injury and will have undoubtedly experienced significant limb atrophy/wastage, because that's what happens when you injure a limb. It's going to be a long way back for him (and it's not impossible he might never come back from it fully), but a significant percentage simply won't understand that.

Why are you ignoring the reported "facts" to lambaste people? Nobody said to sell him to West Ham for £25 million in which case you'd have a point.

IF PSG, who are one of the worlds best sides with ambitions of winning the Champions League, not "half decent", have genuinely bid £50 million then yes the Pozzo's will seriously consider it. Will he ever be worth more than £50 mill? Unlikely, his ceiling could possibly be £60 million but that's a big risk to take. He's three days shy of 26. One year off his prime years, he's at optimum selling value.

That doesn't change because he scored an equaliser against Newcastle.
