Deeney for the World Cup squad? Great back up to Harry Kane and could be the sort of off-field captain required!
Should think not but if Kane did get injured England would be stuffed up front !! Glen Murray is the most in form England striker apart from Harry .
Maybe he'd be more suited to the role of being the bloke who shakes the player's hands as they arrive at the ground because he's doing **** all on the pitch.
Or time to be ‘kicked upstairs’ as the new Harry the Hornet. Would bring much needed edge to the character.
The fat jokes are not really valid anymore. I thought he looked the slimmest he's been for a couple of years today. He's shifted a lot of weight, there's no doubt about it.
Yet looks slower and less mobile than ever. He's offering absolutely nothing to the cause at all at this point.
He appears to want to be all things to all men. He wouldn't be the first person to have become lost in the cult of personality, rather than just kicking a football about. It will take a brave coach to replace him as captain but I hope this will happen next season, preferably TC.
What an absolute stinker of a season he's had. Brash, arrogant, critical of fans, offending opponents with his Billy big cajones chat, barely fit and missed 2 penalties. If he's not off in the summer then he needs to have a long hard word with himself
Modern legend for us and it's a shame he didn't score the penalty if it does turn out to be last home game. if he stays he can remain club captain but can't be allowed to start every game.
Not as down on Troy as many on here but he has had an awful season and yesterday he just looked like the game was passing him by and he was visibly a yard slower than anyone else on the pitch.
Deeney’s movement for our second goal was bizarre. He plays a nice one two with Pereyra and then tracks the Newcastle defender into the box, when he could have pulled back a few yards to create space for himself. Having scored good goals against Everton and WBA you’d think he’d look for an opportunity rather than get drawn towards the ball.
Can't believe he was smashing home a large popcorn chicken meal with beans and corn on the cob during the lap of honour. Not good enough, on, off, over, under or as part of the pitch imo.
I thought he was injured, possibly on the foot he hurt against Palace. He limped for a while and seemed to me in some discomfort. He was replaced about ten minutes later I think.
Yes, I noticed that as well. Definite problem near the corner of the GT and Rookery which he limped away from. Makes you wonder if he wasn't fully recovered prior to the game (can't blame him for not wanting to knock on the door of the medical department and asking them to take a look)?
Just so! Especially as they had just returned their 'Janet & John Teach You Physiotherapy' book to the library!
Not sure I could ever feel like viewing an optional internet forum is torture. On the contrary in fact, seeing forum football experts such as yourself angrily post the same thing each week is hilarious.
