Considering how many scousers like going to Benidorm , if Amrabat goes to Malaga , then maybe we can do a deal that involve loads of cheap flights, so that we can use these to lure Everton into selling us Pickford , who's barely played for them since signing .

Obviously the Met ... and yes Isthmian div 1 is a pretty good standard ;) And you're bang on that no one likes them, the dirty cahunts! :D

  3. Nath. If you don't like an opposing opinion, you can easily avoid it by not coming on the forums.

You, to my recollection, have never explained why his early season performances deserved to be dismissed like they never happened. If your point of view is going to be taken seriously, it should discuss the things that seem to prove it erroneous, rather than ignore them.

Don't tell me you have presented an argument that wasn't justified almost entirely by anything other than 'He's ****, get rid".

Listing things that Batty doesn't do (despite video evidence and people's memories telling them different) is just a hollow attempt to explain why you have been calling a decent player **** for the last year, and demonstrates pretty much that you weren't watching the games, or were just getting your opinion from crap pundits.

Say you think he's shot, say you think he was a flash in the pan, say you think he's past it, fair enough. But say he was crap first half of this season, and it is you that is talking rubbish.

What a laughably hypocritical post after you've yourself belittled others opinions on him with comments like "Anyone says he is poop; you're talking big fat hairy testicle balls".

I have made my reasoning very clear as to why I believe he's not good enough, so either you haven't read my posts, or you're conveniently avoiding and ignoring the reasoning I've provided in this thread as to why I have the opinion I have.

  5. This one contains a very good critique of his playing style.

  6. This ones good, because without explicitly saying it, you admit that he was achieving something, and, fair dos, you actually give a reason for why you feel he may have not been as effective in the second half of the season.

BUT. You do imply that he was achieving something, which from you is high praise for Amrabat.

Most likely that is why I made no criticism of what was for once a relatively balanced post.

Amrabat is a hard worker, quick, occasionally flashy, and a likeable character. That being said, trying really hard isn't good enough unless that effort produces or leads to goals. I know people were raving about him first half last year, and I will admit he had some decent games, but he really is more showy than effective. It's all well and good to leave a left back dead on his feet because it looks impressive (and, to be fair, it is impressive), but to me the stats don't lie. Three assists and no goals is not good enough for a winger. Pereyra got 2 goals and 2 assists and he played a fraction of the games that Amrabat played. Hell, Jose Holebas managed 2 goals and 4 assists and he's a left back. We need more out of attackers than this.

Let's not turn this into the 'let's bully Nath because I don't agree with him thread '.

There are other posters who have said that they don't believe that Amrabat is good enough. Nath has not attacked Amrabat as a person or his character like others have, he just states, like me and others that he's not good enough.

  10. So yep. When you actually consider his season as a whole, you end up, albeit reluctantly, and possibly unintentionally, admitting that he was better in the first half of the season (even if you didn't rate him), and you don't get criticised by me or anyone else for saying it, though people may disagree with you.

But then you also post just to say he is poop and get rid, without any attempt at justification, and, indeed, stating your opinion as fact.

I hope you can see, from that, which posts I am critical of, and maybe start to understand what I am saying, whether you agree with it or not.

As a previous poster suggested, Marmite.

Aside from his obvious effort I like him because for the most part he gets the ball and default mode is to go forward with it, I understand the comments that what he does with it is not always great but we have lacked forward motion and awful lot over recent times and at least he tries to provide it. I think that is why he gets a great send off when being subbed. That and that he's got quite a good song that everybody knows.

I'll also take my hat off to him, suffers a serious injury and still keeps fit and maintains competitive action, what a soldier.

Think it's safe to say, he's a trier, and has good moments occasionally within games, however he's not up the to standard that we'd expect if we want to move up the league.

    Does that help?

    If not:

A lot of comments mentioning that Amrabat was a LOT better in the first half of the season and people have also said that there's never anyone in the box. I think this is because of two factors, the first being the injury and second was the lack of people in the box, we never replaced Ighalo with a pacey poacher who you knew would be in the box and ready to pounce.

I totally get people's criticism. But if we sign Carrillo or Ghezzal I still hope he stays. We need that competition, the determination and work rate of someone like Amrabat rubs off on players, even more so when it's player that are competition for the same spot. Last year he competed with Janmaat, who was also injured a fair bit. If he's pushing Ghezzal and Berghuis for a place then you know they'll be looking over their shoulder and can't take their foot off the pedal.

Yes, I want an upgrade. But if that upgrade turns out to be a bust or gets injured then we're ****ed and we'll have learnt nothing from last season.

I like you appreciate Amrabat's work rate and versatility. Plus he was ill-used by QSF and Mazzari. But if are getting in one or more of Grosicki, Ghezzal or Carrillo somebody will have to go. It's simple Maths. With Grosicki I think he is very similar to Amrabat but he offers more end product. Will trust Silva's judgement on Grosicki and Gino's on Amrabat. The way all our rivals are strengthening means there is no room for sentiment. Our squad was stretched to the limit and beyond last season due to injuries. We need quality back up in every position and more flair. Would luv to see us get Ghezzal, might turn out like Niang admittedly, but he does have all the tools to be the next Payet if managed properly. Must not forget that we also need a striker to compete with Deeney and Okaka. Hopefully things become clearer over the next few days. COYHS.

Lets be honest - we need more pace throughout the side really.

The play last season was so slow and predictable!

I think a lot of people said Amrabat had a good start to the season but once he got injured the form dipped - as with most of the team.

He certainly does get caught shirt pulling very easily and flapping arms at the officials just showed frustration.

For me, the simplest thing holding Amrabat back is the fact that he always seems to take about a dozen too many touches. He keeps hold of the ball for a little bit too long every time he gets it. Or at least those are my most vivid memories of him playing.

He was absolutely one of the players I got excited about in the first half of the season, and his little lean into the defender, shirt pull, etc etc trick does work really well when the ref doesn't see it, and i really like that kind of all-action determination.

But beyond his enthusiasm, that trick, and his desire (albeit ponderous at times) to move the ball forwards (even if it is at his feet the entire time), he is frustrating to watch. And it's mainly because he is a head down player that stifles more attacks than he speeds up and progresses. If he could change his game so that he more often lets go of the ball or decides to take a player on within a touch or two, then he'd be fine.

You can't have it all when you're a team of our size, and I'm happy with Amrabat, but believe he could definitely improve in very obvious areas of his game.

Spot on. And it's the last paragraph that rings true to me for why I would like to see him move on. Because if he was going to improve those obvious areas of his game, he'd have done it at his age by now. Those obvious traits that are missing are the ones that should be at the top of the list of things he should be able to do as a winger.

In his defence he can whip a ball in which as any low handicap golfer will tell you is a difficult technique to master. As with golf pro's the best players are usually good at it, they need to be as just a couple of cm's off the ball's sweet spot and it can literally go anywhere .... Unfortunately Ambat hasn't quite got it mastered.

Amrabat will play until we get someone better. Let's just hope we check whether his replacement is better before he leaves. The replacements that have been suggested are suspect to my mind. Their egos seem to be way bigger than the supporters of their current clubs rate their ability. A player that tries always gives the opposition something to think about. A player with loads of ability but who disappears up his own backside makes the opposition relax.

This is it, too many of our fans want rid of a player when in reality, they would still make a very good squad player. Some of our fans have short memories, it wasn't long ago we were royally shafted by injuries and were playing people out of position. To have some of Amrabat's quality on the bench will keep pressure on Success, Peyera, Zarate and whoever else ends up playing in those attacking roles. Even if we manage to get a couple of wingers in, with less than 3 weeks to Liverpool, it's going to take time to get them up and running which is why it's important to have someone like Amrabat during that transition phase. If everything has settled down by Christmas, and we've avoided injuries, and the new signings aren't flops, then yeah, sell or loan out Amrabat, but until then, keep!

I hope it's true. Sell Amrabat for 5-7m, bring in Carrillo and keep Zarate and Success. Perfect situation in my book.

Carrillo, Zarate, Richarlison, Success, Pereyra, Femenia all capable of playing on the wing (and possibly Gray?).

Although after recent injury situation with success, Zarate, Pereyra, Janmaat and Pereyra's ability to play more centrally I wouldn't mind an extra option.
