I thought some might like to hear Jon Marks' subdued commentary describing the winning goal. http://www.wfc.net/17-18/goals/Arsenal_h2.mp3
Perhaps Arsenal were under par yesterday but we outplayed them for an entire half. Silva's words do seem to energize the team and give them direction which is a sign of an excellent manager. Fitness levels are exceptional too. The team is becoming a real unit and even those who have come in have done well. Cue Mariappa with a key block. Again a sign of a good manager is to improve players. If things do keep going as they are we will struggle to retain Richarlison, Doucoure and the manager. Richarlison is still rather raw with his decision making. He decided to take on the entire Arsenal defence at one stage, neglected to pass to Doucoure in a better position but it's a sign of a player with no fear and brimming with confidence. I said last season Doucoure will become an exceptional player if he improves his passing and shooting and those facets of his game are coming along more than nicely. A a sign of a great player is time on the ball and he has that and such a languid ease on the ball. He dominates that midfield and his stamina is extraordinary. At one stage defending the box, thirty seconds later pressing in the opposition area. Things could have been different had Ozil taken his chance and there was a slightly worrying repetition of what happened against Manchester City after the first goal when concentration and heads seemed to drop allowing Bellerin his chance. I hope this result gives the players that confidence they can not only beat the so called lower ranked sides in the division but have no fear of taking on the so called elite. They shouldn't really. We do have some players now in the team who have the ability to become world class. There is no reason at all why Richarlison could not make the selecao selection for Russia and Doucoure after having played for the French junior sides at all age groups become part of Deschamps thinking. And while Pereyra is not yet fully match fit or sharp his nutmeg yesterday along with Richarlison's constant trickery was a joy to behold. Some schadenfreude..... Highlights:
From Opta 3 - Yesterday @WatfordFC became the 1st team in PL history to score a result altering goal in the 90th minute in 3 consecutive games. Drama.
Wenger. From something of a hero (modernised the game here) to churlish tosspot. Whinge, whinge, whinge. Surely there's a castle in France somewhere that needs a bit of d.i.y. improvement for a retiree and has a nice bit of pasture attached.
Dave Narey, bit of a donkey but scored a really spectacular volley against Brazil if I remember rightly
Someone earlier in this thread asked for the radio commentary, here's a link to Jon Marks' commentary of the winner. http://wfc.net/17-18/goals/Arsenal_h2.mp3 PS if you're only reading this in an office on Monday morning, then by all means turn your PC volume up to maximum.
I didn't quite get Clive's hatred, but after reading this little lot, Arsenal have moved to the top of my hated club list: http://untold-arsenal.com/archives/64907
F*** me that's near unreadable, certainly a lot of snowflakes on there. They keep mentioning the Deeney offside for the second goal but he was onside after the deflection. They moan about the contact on Welbeck should have been a penalty because the contact was greater, sorry but they were shoulder to shoulder and Holebas out-muscled Welbeck. Richarlison may have receive less contact but that contact was illegal and a penalty was rightly given.
Jesus, even we accepted the offsides such as City’s first against us are ones which officials are often going to struggle with. Using still shots to show someone is 4cm offside is ridiculous unless they are going to bring in technology to rule on this. Any excuse to avoid admitting their team is ******* ****.
These are the supporters, as well as a manager, who believed that Lacazette's disallowed goal against Stoke should have stood as it 'was only just offside blud fam'. The joke is, they are a nothing team now. Sneaking past us would make no difference, they've still got their 'too many fixtures in December and January' slump to come. Their best players want to leave in January, their coach is clinging to the past, the owners don't give a **** and the fanbase are fighting each other. Wonderful.
Before the season started I said that they would be a good bet to finish bottom half. Even with them playing as sh!te as they currently are, it probably won't happen as of the other teams from outside the big six as I can't see 5 of those finishing above them. If we manage to avoid injuries and suspensions I can see us finishing above them as the atmosphere there appears to be quite toxic; I expect Sanchez and *zil to leave in January, I also think that they will continue to struggle to sign high quality players. #thenextLeeds
I can’t believe so many Arsenal fans are only debating the penalty decision, and not criticising their own performance. Is this how bad it has got for them? Their manager made some awful subs which put them on the back foot, they capitulated and were being dominated by little Watford when drawing 1-1 and they don’t even care. What a fall from grace. For such an entitled and deluded lot, they’re ****ing awful fans at a club which continues to become more and more mediocre. I’m not sure which of the two is more embarrassing.
In case you haven't seen it - I posted the following pic in the penalty thread, debunking the "Deeney offside" whinge, where it shows his position just as the ball (circled) hits Carrillo and changes its forward trajectory:
The way these Arsenal fans are going on about Richarlison and how hard done by they are, you would think they have never benefited from a 50/50 or had a shocking decision go their way. The pity party they are throwing for themselves on all of their forums and twitterverse is so pathetic, they should be thrown out of the Prem and be made to register for the woman's league (no sexism intended). They sound like the nerd that use to grass on you in first school because you said a naughty word like bum or poopoo. Absolute sissies! The odd fan that can see it was a 50/50 are being called trolls and not real Arsenal fans haha. They are a nothing team, just like Liverpool. No-one fears them and they have become irrelevant, living in the past. Their two best players want out and will go for free (I think both Ozil's and Sanchez's contracts are up in the summer) in January. They have gone from the likes of Overmars, Adams, Bergkamp, Henry and the list could go on. To the likes of Ramsey, Monreal, Elneny, Iwobi and so on. Outside of Sanchez, Ozil and Lacazette they are absolutely average at best.
Made by an Arsenal fan Just goes to show how much we improved in the 2nd half and clearly the better team.
Refs have it in for us? Decisions costing us points, media against us........... ........ surely a copy and paste job from this forum with Arsenal replacing Watford
Media hate Wenger? Well so do most of their fans it seems actually if you read other sites/listen to phone ins - is there another set of fans so divided over a manager!? Any new manager isn't going to stand a chance with them..because you can the pro Wenger camp giving him all sorts of pressure and stick. As for the decisions - lets not have refs and just let the fans and managers decide on what is right and wrong - might get a game finished by the end of the week! They've have 6 more points if they could defend and finish simply chances - even Wenger himself admitted that. As for us rolling over against Chelsea - well one thing is for certain if its 1-1 with 10 to go they will probably be piling on the pressure in attack rather than worrying about Deeney or picking their nose in midfield.
Nope. As Norn days it's quite clear from BT Sport's almost along the line camera that Ozil's legs were level with Kabasele as the ball was played. They were leaning in opposite directions though so Ozil was just offside.
Amazing isn’t it. With our two recent previous victories over them you fully expected an absolute hammering from them in the last 10-15 minutes and it’s exactly what happened. You feared the worst and almost expected them to get at least a goal back. Obviously we hung on in both matches but it wasn’t easy. This time around, nothing. It honestly could’ve been Swansea or Brighton out there we were playing against after we equalised. Yes they were on the wrong side of one 50/50 decision, but so what? They offered nothing at 1:1 and ended up losing, absolutely amazing how they are all moaning about the decisions rather than the fact they looked out of their depth against us. If you didn’t know better you’d think they were a team in the bottom three constantly bemoaning their bad luck and decisions going against them.
This is truly amazing, how is it even possible for any human being to be so delusional? Basically they think there has been a vendetta against them since the invincible season, the powers that be don’t want them dominating so they have had deliberately bad refereeing decisions ever since! Also they think if we had VAR they’d be top, and once VAR is introduced they’ll be back up there challenging for the title!! I almost can’t comprehend the stupidity, the fact that the author has bothered to analyise all the decisions affecting Arsenal and feels they’d be 6 points better off with VAR, yet he hasn’t done the same for the other 19 teams in the league so is a completely meaningless exercise, or jus the simple fact most of them blame everything else other than the simple facts that they have a has-been manager and some very average players. Bizarre in the extreme.
Too similar. I'm suspecting a poster who is tottally different, one who makes intelligent, thought provoking posts. Trouble is I can't think of anyone on here!
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...unished-dive-against-arsenal-it-had-decisive/ Keith Hackett Is this when the media turn against us fully? Of all the times players may or may not have dived this is the one that needs to be punished. Just so happens it is Watford
