We'd be able to sign their cloggers, but not their good players. They're probably Premier League standard as it is, and even if their better players do want to leave, it won't be for what would be a sideways step at best
Probably why he was brought in. Had to do similar at Malaga after they overspent massively under Pellegrino and did pretty well with no investment.
Worked miracles there, iirc they got relegated in rock bottom when he left. We were lucky to have him
Anyway, the best we're getting from Valencia is their 6th choice CB who has a market price of £500k but who we'll wangle the price down to £400k #bargaining
Thinking aloud here, but now that we've got Ivic, who at least worked with him albeit didn't get the chance to manage him on the pitch, would anyone take Battocchio back? Had a bad injury a few years ago when he was at Maccabi, but was a regular in Ligue 1 last season
I had a brief look at the players list on the Maccabi website last night, but there was no one that caught my eye. Having said that I had never heard of Ivic until a couple of weeks ago, so there might be one or two decent players who Ivic might want to poach, after all he obviously knows their squad.
Few people touting Dan Glazer around as a possible player of theirs to look at. Ivic relied on him hugely by all accounts and talked him up regularly as a key component of the way they played. Would obviously depend on whether he can translate that to the English game though, or whether Ivic feels we already have a player who can do the same job better.
Just watched a video of him in one of their big games. Non stop running, tackling, leads the press, tracks runners, organises the team. Only 23 but looked like a leader. Seemed to lack a bit of quality on the ball, overrunning it a few times but mostly his job was to get it and give it simply to someone else.
Watching Tel Aviv highlights he looks really slow and immobile. Sure he throws himself in to challenges, but I don't see that he has either the quality or the athleticism to be good enough. My guess is he's probably League One/lower Champ level, and he'd be unlikely to displace Hughes or even Chalobah here.
We don't want Dan Glazer, no way mobile enough for English football. I'd only look at Yonatan Cohen and Eyal Golasa (being generous) as making an impact for us.
I agree that Cohen appears the only player of theirs with a bit of extra class. However, he also plays in the last position we need to be signing anyone and I very much doubt he's any better than what we already have.
Would depend on outgoings, he's very very versatile - hopefully we have Sarr and Pedro on this wings and Suarez up top and need not worry. I've got very high hopes for him though, he just has that something special.
Brentford tend to know what they are doing in the transfer market, so let’s just do a Bournemouth and steal him first. BRENTFORD LINE UP HACK Brentford want to sign Nuremburg winger Robin Hack if they lose Said Benrahma. The 21-year-old Germany U21 player is a top target should their £25m-rated star move to the Premier League this summer. Hack came through the youth ranks at Hoffenheim before joining Nuremburg in the Bundesliga 2 last year. He scored 10 goals in 31 appearances last season. The Bees are preparing for the potential losses of Benrahma and Ollie Watkins and want in excess of £50m for the pair. Benrahma is of interest to a string of Premier League clubs including Aston Villa and West Ham. Brentford also want to strengthen with a new central-midfielder and right-sided centre-back this summer. They will also look to sign a left-back if a buyer comes forward for Rico Henry.
https://translate.googleusercontent...n=true&usg=ALkJrhg2HrXr1T0OPBoRUEMJLRX14OFyWA Don’t look now - but this Serbian news outlet claims Ivic will want to bring 3 players with him.
From what I’ve read, many people have conflicting viewpoints. Cohen’s goal scoring record isn’t the best it has to be said, Golas looks ‘well traveled’ to say the least - the best reports I’ve read are about Glazer. But if we have Capoue and Hughes staying, I don’t see how he starts. Those two, refocused, should comfortably be our starters in that position and be the best 2 in the division really. But then one of the things mentioned about Ivic is that he won’t always play the big names etc so who knows. I would worry if he brought more than one though - I’d rather he create something new as opposed to trying to recreate something in a different environment. As others have said, if we are tapping the Israeli market, Shon Weissman is the place to go.
Cohen has just scored a stunner in the Israeli Super Cup final apparently. Was wanted by Celtic previously, looks like a good talent
Cohen is more of a winger so his job is to create as much as to score. He has a LOT of assists and seems to take a good set piece. Reckon he’d cost £2-3m. A little different to Weissman. I’d love to sign the latter but he obviously doesn’t have much of a connection to Ivic. So if we bring him in it’s because he is a club target rather than a personal request from Ivic. I think Weissman and Ivic overlapped in Israel during Ivic’s first season but Weissman’s stats weren’t particularly impressive until he moved to Wolfsberger.
Cohen seems principally a left-sided forward, he'd be fighting for a spot with whichever of JP, Welbeck, Deulofeu, Cucho and perhaps Suarez we've kept. Makes little sense as a signing. True, though Ivic might have still heard things about Weissman during his time in Israel, even when was no longer in the same league. Them having a less direct connection might reduce the chances of him signing even if Ivic did have an eye on him, as unlike with Struber there'd not be too much in the way of prior knowledge which could sway Weissman to join us over whichever of the no doubt multiple other assorted clubs who will be interested.
Did Weissman pad his statistics by goals against the weaker teams in the Bundesliga ? He did score against LASK, RB Salzburg and Graz three of the strongest sides in it but scored most of his goals against the cannon fodder. Still on the rumour mill he is wanted by several what would be described as the middling clubs. Not big enough to be at the top table or too small to be the relative minnows.
I’m not sure I agree. It’s not at all clear which of those five will be here at the start of the season. Deulofeu likely to be off. And Cucho out on loan. A young, inexpensive versatile forward who can play across the front three, takes set pieces and knows the manager’s system well may make sense.
I saw Weissman play at Roma in Europa League in December. Scored and looked very useful against a decent Italian side.
He also scored against Roma and Monchengladbach in the Europa League. I posted the goals a couple of weeks back here: http://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/transfer-suggestions.54511/page-49#post-2875997
