There was courtroom drama today in Watford as a seven year old boy challenged a court ruling over which of his divorcing parents should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by both parents, so in accordance with custody laws that the child remain as close to his family as possible, the judge awarded custody to his aunt and uncle. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt and uncle beat him just like his parents, and he refused to live with the pair. When the judge suggested that the boy be placed under the care of his grandparents, the boy became visibly upset and professed through tears that they only encouraged the beatings. Seemingly at a loss, and unable to find any close family to the boy with no history of abuse, the judge took the extraordinary step of allowing the boy to suggest who should take custody of him. After studying the issue with protective services, the boy has been placed in the custody of Luton Town Football Club, whom the court agrees are not capable of beating anyone.
Bad & unexpected news for the lad: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45456235 Maybe the boy would be safer at Everton FC.
Wiki does take the guesswork out of life (except in the case of the hugely misleading Fabbrini entry).
