I suppose this should go in the Match Day forum but hardly anyone looks in there. Anyway, my plan was to head back south straight after the match but much to my surprise and dismay the last non-overnight train to London is 19:48, which is cutting things very fine, and I don't fancy staying over night in Scouserland. Having not been to Anfield before I'm just wondering others' plans are? Even if we have little injury time and it doesn't take too long getting out of the ground, there won't be enough time for me to walk even at my above average pace, especially with the likely crowd congestion. A bus or taxi could get me to Lime Street on time, but there might be a fair bit of traffic. Also if the last trip to Liverpool is anything to go by, there could be a long queue for the train if I arrive too close to departure. Is everyone else driving and/or going for the overnight option? If I miss the 19:48 I can still catch a later train with both being off-peak but I don't exactly fancy travelling all night. Have many people booked that train in the confidence they'll make it?
Not sure about that. Fem would do a fine job in an advanced position, but I don't want to see Janmaat in a back 4. I also don't want to see Richy neither, at least from the start. Scraping the barrel a bit, but I'd probably play Pereyra and Carrillo. Whatever we go for, we're a little bit ****ed somewhere on the pitch though, desperately need reinforcements out wide
This is the game we could get a bit of a thrashing. I mean, everyone knows how to play Liverpool, but I don't think we'll be able to pull it off, and then if/when we concede 1, then what?
The thought of Lukebakio did cross my mind, he can't be much worse than what we have at the moment, but by all accounts his defensive workrate isn't too good
Following strong complaints from the Merseyside press concerning the unfairness of WFC Forum's match previews earlier this season, it's been decided that the preview for this game should take the form of a fan's interview with an opposition supporter. I was lucky enough to catch up with Reds fan Kurt Scallyworth of Liverpool fanzine Dass So Unfair Da' to get his thoughts on Saturday's live TV game. Hi Kurt and welcome to WFC forums. Can you tell us a little bit about how your season has played out and whether it met your expectations/hopes at the beginning? Eh mate. Eeeeeerm....well we're in theeerd possishun, bu' reeeeeeelly we orrtta be in feeerst. Iss all been very unfair. And tell us a little bit about your manager. What's his name and where does he come from as I believe you say up there? 'is name's Yeeeeerg'n. Yeeeeerg'n Klopp. He's from Jeeeeeeeeermany. And the Liverpool club crest. What does that represent? Issa beard. A red beard. And what Liverpool players should we watching out for on Saturday? Probl'y ahhh Veeeerjeel van Dike an' warrabout Albeeeeerto Moreno an' Robeeeerto Feeeermeeeneeeyo. What have you made of Watford's season so far? Eeeerm....youse dun orrrite reeeeelly. Ah meen, no disrespeck yeah? But iss Waffud innit? Youse gotta be 'appy jus' beein' in the premier league, yeah? D'ya no warra meeeen doh? No disrespeck to youse like. Everett, Dodd, Tarbuck, Starr. The list of Liverpool's comedians is star-spangled and their comedy world famous. Can you tell us a joke? Eeeermmm....did youse see when Yeeerg'n's glasses fell off? Da was very funny da. Ha ha ha! That's hilarious. And finally what's your prediction for the result on Saturday? Ah mean, no disrespeck t' Waffud, yeah? Bu' ah think weez is gunna win..... theeeerteeen nil. Thanks for the interview Kurt and good luck for the rest of the season – except against us of course! (chuckles). Keeeeeert. Isss pronounced Keeeeeeeeeert.
If I could chose one of Arsenal or Liverpool to be the win in these 2 games, I'd take the win over liverpool.
The only way I can see us getting any points from this game is if we adopt a 5-2-4-3 formation. I’d even consider tightening up the first half by starting Richarlision on the bench and playing Gomes next to Karnesis just until we know how the game panning out. These players should allow us to morph into any other formation when necessary whilst keeping a tight midfield, having numbers in defence a still having two up top. Karnesis Janmart Prodl Maps Britos Hollaback D’core Capoo Hughes Pereyra Feminia Delafeu Richy Deeney Okaka COYO
Me too. And after next Saturday, if we had to pick one win of the 3 away games, I'd have always picked Huddersfield
This is an absolute must-win, if we're to make the 43 points that the experts on here predicted we'd need to stay up this year.
Ha! I know saying that after the game sounds like "in hindsight..." however I have my own reasons for preferring to screw over Liverpools top 4 ambitions more than beat Arsenal, and I don't have the same dislike of Arsenal that a lot of people on here do. Obviously I'd rather win both of course!
Er guys, I'm not sure if any of you are being serious, but this is not intended to be the official matchday thread, just me asking advice about travel arrangements. Besides, you wouldn't want to miss out on another of those witty in-depth match previews (whoever's going to do it) would you?
Well I for one, think that out of respect for the death of Sir Kenneth Dodd, one of this country's greatest ever comedians and tax payers, we really ought to concede this game and spend the time instead united with the great city of Liverpool in tears and mourning. Sleep with the angels tickling stick.
Oh sh*t, it’s Clive’s curse. If he mentions you in one of his matchday posts then the you’re for the reaper.
That's better then having two keepers on the bench, however I could well imagine both keepers going for the same ball and knocking themselves out, so two on the bench and two on the pitch it is then!
Sir Ken Dodd was without doubt one of the funniest comedians the UK has ever produced. Unfortunately as he was from Liverpool only scousers could understand the complex layers of wit and humour and truly appreciate what a comic genius he was. #diddy-die-doh-Doddy-diddy?
Haha, he won’t be there. Dropped from the Sky commentary team. He’ll be in the stands so no glass to protect you. I feel a chant coming on ....
I will be watching it on TV, until we concede the first goal - at which point I will probably go and watch something else in another room, since Mr HH is a Liverpool fan and I won't want to watch it with him anymore (although I will be secretly flicking back and forth to check the score). I will then stay overnight in my house in Hampshire. Hope this helps and good luck. Oh, and West Side Story.
Actually, I suppose Clive's "interview" is THE match preview for this one and the mods will let this stand as the match day thread. Should've given this a more distinct title... So, I guess no-one is chancing the 19:48 then?
