I am finding the Winter Olympics strangely comforting as I avoid all forms of football for as long as I can!

I'm looking forward to the ski cross. What a bonkers event that is.

Oh dear - one of our best hopes for a medal took a tumble in the final of the short track speed staking.

Still got two more chances I understand - if she can stay on her stakes.

Apparently the issue was she made a slow start and tried to get back but ended up being knocked over by another competitor.

We currently have less medals than Kazakhstan.

Considering an aggregate, they do have 50 to make up for from the last summer games but it's not a bad tally for a country 3.5 times smaller than the UK

The Nigerian Bobsled team all sound suspiciously American.

    Really enjoying the Olympics.

    Liked so far:-

    Half pipe snowboarding
    Ice dancing
    Speed skating
Those shouty people who curl one out. I especially liked the mixed Chinese pair. The lady swept when she shouldn't have and the man gave her a real telling off. "ya, ya, ya, ya, Ya, Ya! YAAAAA!!!!"

Not much luck for the skiers - of the 4 events - 3 have been cancelled so far.

Apparently the other nations are getting upset about the GB suits for the skeleton.

Because we've been setting the best times I think.

First medal of the games in what seems to be our Number One winter sport (outside anyway) - not sure health and safety would pass a load of kids trying to throw themselves down head first an icy ski slope these days!

Good for Lizzy Yarnold for retaining her Gold medal in sliding a tin tray downhill and Laura Keas who got Bronze in the same event. Two medal in one event is a first for GB.

    Pipping the Germans as well..

Lizzy was talent identified about 8 years ago as a potential Skeleton athlete - kudos to whoever did that.

Poor Elise Christie doesn't seem to have the Olympic winning feeling though!

Oh dear - Christie crashed and got disqualified again!

Maybe the Olympics just isn't for her!

Looks like our last medal hopes will be in the Ice sweeping..

When the British fella won a bronze medal in the sledging earlier, it looked like he was going to finish fourth until the last competitor out, an Austrian I think it was, made a real mess of it and thereby let Billy Britain in for 3rd place.

As the Austrian chap made his mistakes, the BBC-TV commentators were ecstatic.

"We just need a mistake here.......we need a mistake..........AND THERE IT IS!!....AND ANOTHER!! OH! GREAT BRITAIN! GREAT BRITAIN!!

Talk about impartial commentary. Zero sympathy for the distraught Austrian fella. Zero sportsmanship.

Maximum gloating, jingoism, flag waving, commentator shouts of "GREAT BRITAIN!" (with special accentuation of the 'great').

Really over the top stuff. I can't imagine what any ex-pat Austrians watching must have thought.

How wonderful it was to see that ****** fall over again. Getting carried out in the arms of her coach, like a toddler who'd fallen and grazed her knee at the park, was the cherry on the cake.

Won a few world titles it seems though...presumably against the same opposition.

Maybe just gets a bit overexcited at the thought of being an Olympic champion or even medallist which would bring a lot more attention for her.

Mind you getting to the final would help!

She seems to be a bit of a social media fan too so you can imaging the stick she is getting now - probably be quiet for a few days now!

Whereas Lizzy Yarnold had done nothing of note for a year or so but wins when it matters..

And the girl who came 3rd in the Skeleton hadn't even reached the podium in a regular world cup event I understand.

Because it amuses me that some prat who's dedicated her life to something as pointless as skating dead fast on a patch of ice can't even do it without falling over.

Ah the Andy Murray code of conduct. Win and he's a Brit. Lose and he's a Scot.

Curling is looking promising for 2 more medals. 6 in a Winter Olympics would be hugely impressive. Shame Elise Christie didn't get something but hey she seems to have been cursed since 2014 when she knocked over the South Korean. Great TV though. Loving the ski and snowboarding.

I liked the bit where she went down holding her ankle when she tripped over herself only to miraculously recover when she realised it was a false start or whatever. Zaha on ice.

Fully expect to see her in the jungle.
