Linked before and worth gamble at 4 to 5 million. Homegrown and still young. Type of player who might surprise people as technically good. Would have to fight for midfield berth but provides good competition. Would rather a youngster like Hughes rather than Huddlestone. COYHs!

Agree with your points Ray but I genuinely have never seen the hype about Will. Sure he had a relatively decent passing range and accuracy for a centre midfielder that plays quite a bit behind the strikers, but in general he's weak and doesn't really put in a defensive shift. More than anything for me, it's a huge telling sign that no club has managed to get him in the 4 years that the hype surrounded him for (yes I know he was basically out for the whole of the 15/16 season due to a ruptured cruciate ligament but 4 years?)

EPL sides are notoriously reluctant to take a chance on lower league talent. Spurs going for Deli Ali a notable exception but Jordan Rhodes took ages to get there and did little. Hughes injuries would put Wenger's off but he has an impressive 169 league appearances at only 22. Not a prolific goalscorer but can pick a pass, carries the ball well driving forward an rarely loses possession. The latter quality essential in EPL. Someone like Silva could harness some of the talent Hughes showed when he first came on the scene. COYHs!

I would take him - I think he needs a new challenge to kick start his career- he's 22 and has plenty of time to improve but as said above on the ball he is a talent and I think the prem might suit him

HG so could be a decent squad player initially, then hopefully he could push for a regular start after a while?

4m is nothing today, hg worth a punt. I'd rather him than taking a chance with a foreigner.

Would be a decent signing and wouldn't mind him being here. If this story is true and Brighton are our only competition for his signature then I'm sure he would pick us over them. The chance to play under Silva and play for a team that is going into their 3rd season in the Premier League is a no brainer.

As others have mentioned I think he needs a new challenge and has become somewhat stagnant at an almost Derby team. His style suits the Premier League more than the championship and I could see him reaching the potential he has under Silva.

I can't see us getting him for £4mil but I wouldn't mind spending between £6-8mil to land him.

If Brighton offer more money and a more pivotal role then he may be swayed to the south coast. I'd like to think we would be a better option but if I was him and not looking through yellow tinted glasses then Brighton could be just as appealing

Hughes has got a huge amount of quality and has carried Derby at times. Astonishing considering his age. Reads the game well and DOES defend. He definitely needs to step up now and if his fitness is not an issue then some team in the Prem is going to benefit. I hope that's us. A more inspired signing than Huddlestone, probably.

I think he would be a low risk signing for us. If he isn't good enough in our opinion a Championship club would probably give us our money back.

Moreover he ought to become a premiership player. The signs have been there. If he can he has leadership qualities that could make him hugely valuable to us.

He's gash. Not as good as he thinks he is in his own mind. He dives. His passing isn't all that. He's an annoying little twunt with an attitude and whenever I've seen him he's not actually that effective. Please, please for the love of God NO.

5 million? Wow, if it's true that would be a fantastic bit of business. I really think he'd be a great player for us and even if he's not, he'll have re-sale value to virtually anyone in the Championship and will be better than half the dross we've signed in midfield over the last 2 seasons.

    Make it happen Pozzo!

Lovely footballer to watch. Might have struggled to get back to previous levels after a season out but still only 22 and has already played 170 games for Derby. Would be a decent punt and he's certainly a better passer than anyone we've played regularly in central midfield over the last two seasons.

Silva gave a lot of younger players a chance at Hull so hopefully this will stand us in good stead in attracting younger players. Neither Quique or Mazzarri took a chance on any young players, apart from Ake, which can't have made us an attractive destination.

Haven’t seen him for a while but if the £5m fee is true than that’s great business for a 22yo highly rated English midfielder especially if you consider we didn’t have a full squad submitted because we didn’t have enough HG players. I f this is the sort of player we are going to bulk out our squad with whilst signing Juve midfielders to go with then that is very smart.

Saying that nothing about this deal rings true to me so I won’t get my hopes up, fee seems too low considering the current market and we haven’t gone for young HG players unless this is a change of strategy from us.

Just seen an English looking bloke with milky white blonde hair outside the training ground. Could be Hughes, could be Vydra. Will update when I know more.

A lot of people in on Twitter saying £5m means the story is ******** and it may well be. But some places have suggested it's an initial £5m implying that there will be bonuses attached.

I've also seen speculation he has a PL club release clause in his contract. Which possibly makes the £5m more understandable but then I'd expect a little more competition.
