I'd like to see him back here and given a chance or at least retained and loaned out for half a season to see how he has recovered from his injury. before selling him.

I would let him go. Could have been a quality Premiership player (may still achieve this) but injuries over the last few years have severely affected his progress. I can't see him being ready to be in the starting eleven next season, so sell or another season long loan.

Hah, that's what the article actually says: they want to bring him in on loan.

Hoban to QPR (loan) has popped up again.

    http://www.hertfordshiremercury.co....ord-defender/story-30418919-detail/story.html

Championship side QPR still looks likely to be Tommy Hoban's next loan destination.

We reported a month ago that the Rs were interested in taking the Watford defender to Loftus Road, and the move appears to be gaining momentum.
Hoban has managed more than 50 appearances in his five years at Vicarage Road without ever being a regular in the side.
He has a successful loan spell with Blackburn Rovers in the Championship last season, despite their relegation, and is being lined up for another temporary departure

It would be a third such move for the 23 year old, who spent some time with Watford's non-league neighbours and one-time Vicarage Road tenants Wealdstone five years ago.

Hoban is still highly-rated by the Hornets hierarchy and it is unlikely the London-born former Republic of Ireland U21 international would be allowed to leave on a permanent transfer at this stage.

Let him get his pre-season in before making decisions about loaning him out, he could impress Silva enough to stay and make some starts.

He's 23 now. We should either give him a chance or sell him.

If he was a midfielder, winger, wing-back etc. I would agree. But central defenders, like goalkeepers and line leaders/strikers, mature over time. Hoban will be at his best in 3-4 years. By all means give him a run-out or two over the coming season, but another loan in the Championship (in a decent team) will do him no end of good. If we were going to sell him he would have been gone by now.

He's a lovely lad but needs to play. Therefore reluctantly let him go to QPR Rangers, as the policeman called them all those years ago!

The problem with Hoban is that whenever I've seem him he actually can't play football. He's a good defender but when the ball was at his feet he was useless, he'd be a liability in the Prem, especially if we adopt a more passing style of football.

I thought he was ok actually but that was some time ago and probably needs to get games under his belt before being thrown into the Premier league.

Mind you the likes of Britos and Kaboul are hardly ones to give confidence on the ball.

I actually think his passing is good! Thought he was composed even in his first season under Zola, and don't forget Slav played him at full back and left wing back so they can't have thought he was too shabby on the ball. Opinions lol!!!!

Linked with a loan move to QPR and Sheffield Wednesday.

Do him good to get more games if he can stay fit!

I would prefer Hoban staying over Mariappa. Versatile as is Mariappa, but more of a solid defender.
    BTW my bird is hot

Some people's bodies are just built that way, but sadly it's normally due to poor advice on recovery from injury at a young age. Hate to say it but I would think his career may well he over before it's started, but I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

Gutted for the guy. Such a talent at a young age. Wants to play. Wants to learn. To think he was thrown in as a wing back and didn't complain under Slav. Even set up a few goals. Hope he comes back again and gets a chance. Very likeable player.
