Yes, I’ve seen this and it’s a brilliant read. So inspiring that we will keep all our good players, sign some more and develop not only the SEJ, but GT stand.

The owners are showing incredible ambition.

    I just love it.

Yes exciting stuff indeed, when we start the season not being talked about for the drop then we will be able to push for further rewards, ie Europe and Cup Finals will be more of a possibility! and not just pie in the sky talk!

This is the season of consolidation!

Certainly a great read, and will help to convince the skeptical amongst us and from outside that we "mean business", for want of a better phrase.

For those that haven't seen it, read the full article here: https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...charlison-and-co-arent-for-sale-a3703986.html

Can anyone actually find either planning permission?

I did find a planning application for the training ground. I posted it in the training ground thread if you can find it.

Does "preliminary planning permission" stated for the stadium work mean it doesnt become public at that stage?

I think it means they have sounded out the planning department with some preliminary plans, proposals etc. It brings to the fore any potential local, legal or technical issues early doors any will means anything submitted has a good chance of going through.

    I think it does.

Reading between the lines, I think it means there will not be any work on the stadium in the close of season, as investment will be going towards the training ground in the summer.

Before an official planning application is lodged there will be many preliminary meetings for a project as big as this.

That way when the application goes in they know will know already that it will likely pass as long as they adhere to all the advice and guidlelines laid out in the prelimnary meetings.

A few interesting aspects of the Palace plans released today as they’re another club constrained by their site. https://stadium.cpfc.co.uk/ Up to £100m seems an expensive way to increase their capacity by just 8000. Also they seem to be chopping several rows off the Whitehorse Lane stand behind the goal to make the pitch longer which will make an unusual stand at that end. They’re also building over the top of the existing stand without having to close it as Liverpool did.

Yes, but that’s a lot easier to do when you’re only getting crowds of 16,000 in the Championship.

The way they announced it was as if they were renovating the whole ground, but it looks for the 360 views like they're only re-doing the main stand. The pillars in the away stand remain, and apart from filling in the corners the rest of the ground doesn't look any different.

    So £100m later it'll still be a sh*thole.

Half a **** hole at least. The Holmesdale is a decent enough stand and that new one looks very impressive if it ever gets built (wouldnt mind one like that for the Vic)
£100m seems like a lot of money.. and it is.. but for a stand with that level of facilities it's about the going rate. The new stand at Anfield, built by the same team, cost £115m. Though tbf it is considerably larger.

£100m is not cheap for one stand.

I back the Pozzos to wait for the transfer window to close and snap up the same for £30m plus Sinclair

Apparently Gino has invested in a very promising , smaller stadium in South America in the hope it will grow into a 80k stadium after a season in Spain as a mid sized 40k stadium.

    Hi Miguel,

Apparently plans are in place to increase the capacity from just over it's current 20,000 level to around 30,000.

As for the number of fans? Well when there a loads of empty seats for the visit of Spurs you have to think it's around 6,000 actual supporters who can be arsed.

Extra 8000 fans at roughly £35 per game = extra £280k revenue per game
£100m cost / 280k = 357 games to break even (not including the added cost of more staff extra to steward the extra crowds)

    Does seem pricy..

Corporate income from the new exec boxes and the "tunnel club" will generate a lot more income though

Ahh fair point, didn't actually read the article so didn't realise there would be corporate expansion as well.

Will the new stand include egg and chips restaurants or an egg and chips mural? Or a kiosk selling spot cream and NHS specs?

Palace have projected £15M (net) extra income per season.. and some of that will be payed in advance for the boxes.

As far as the cost is concerned.. it's not just the stand but includes two substantial corporate blocks either side and works in the Whitehorse Lane stand. I wouldnt be surprised if they need to purchase some properties and land from the supermarket as well.

Mr IBB is highly sceptical that £100m will be sufficient.
He also thinks a lot of people in the main stand will be priced out.
It was only last season, I believe, that there was a fair sized increase in the ST cost. A lot of ST holders were priced out.
I believe the architect is the same as on the new Court 1 at The AELTC.
Interesting to see how it evolves.
Perhaps the HF will set the ball rolling by wrecking the stand as they did the team bus?

Disappointingly it looks like a mini Wembley - we've got no chance of getting a win there against them now :(
