I find it fundamentally wrong that a player may be simply pursued on foot by rival clubs until, exhausted, one club finally corners and ensnares him.

Whilst I'm not doubting what people say about him, I don't get how he's proven. His stats are good sure, but he couldn't break into Arsenal's first team before they had Cech and he's been relegated with Swansea. I'm not entirely convinced he's better than what we have.
Whilst I seen some decent performances from him last season. I have similar reservations about Fabianski. Wouldn't be disappointed but i think we can do better. With Rico I'm not sure I remember his games. Did he play in the final against Liverpool?
Can't say I know anything about Rico, but of course he has a good pedigree. Barca are looking for a reserve keeper so he might be on their radar. As for Fabianski I am pretty sure I read that across top European leagues last season he was fifth on the list for saves. Mind you he had loads of practice!

Good point. But we did manage to get Gomes cheap, and in my honest opinion, he has been, particularly in those first two seasons, one of the most impressive keepers in the Prem since we came up. We got something very special in the pound shop when we got that little baybee.

Apparently we’ve pulled out of the running as we want a PL experienced keeper who can guide the youngsters - isn’t that Gomes? If we are sure he’s not the one, then Foster surely?
If that’s what we wanted, why were we after him in the first place? We already knew his background? Unless there’s been development regarding Gomes, perhaps he’s said he wants to leave? A final year at his beloved PSV, perhaps
The perils of following transfer talk online. It was only rumour we were interested in Rico, based on reports on a few transfer websites. Equally now it’s only rumour we’ve pulled out of the race to sign him, based I think on a few Twitter feeds such as Zonamista or whatever he’s called? So all these developments may be true, but equally we may well have been informed we’ve now pulled out of a deal to sign a player we were never actually interested in anyway lol.
To be balanced though, isn’t every transfer a rumour until it happens or at the very least the player in question is seen commenting on it? The Sergio Rico thing is being rumoured across a few sites and has appeared as recently as this morning’s AS newspaper in Spain which is one of their major media outlets, so it seems to have a hint of truth to it.
