Same reason Milan loaned us Niang. Chunky loan fee, wages off books and might get future transfer?

Send him off and replace him with someone slightly younger, more agile and scores more goals; a player such as Duvan Zupata? Seems like a decent plan.

However Okaka shouldn't be underrated. He definitely has some qualities as he is a hard working individual. Unfortunately though he isn't the sort of player that can link up with Deeney as he has a similar range of attributes such as 'being big and challenging for defenders'. In that sense, two 'big' strikers doesn't make a right; it only creates a crater in the opposition penalty area.

Jokes aside, we need someone who can perform like Ighalo did in the 1st half of the 2015/16 season. Someone to link up with Deeney with 'accurate' passes and shots that don't whizz over the cross bar only to land in row z of the Rookery. Okaka wasn't necessarily bad, he was far better than what Ighalo had to offer, it's just that he didn't have anything more than Deeney which is his biggest demise at this club. I'm sure his attributes could work elsewhere though.

Whethers it's that Zapata bloke to replace or not I don't really care. It's Scott Dux, Silva and the Pozzo's job tho find 'that' player to replace if he does indeed go...

Why do they have to link up with Deeney? Silva may have other ideas?

I wonder if the Sebá deal has anything to do with this. We sign him and send them Okaka on loan for a season.

Personally I never really rated Okaka, he just looked good because Deeney was so rubbish under Mazzarri. For a man his size, he fell down way to easily, didn't hold the ball up well enough for his size and strength, first touch and decision making was horrendous at times, flashes of brilliance but just not Premier League level. Quite honestly he annoyed and frustrated me.

So I won't miss him personally if he does go. Like Ighalo, I would say thanks for everything, appreciate the effort and wish you all the best for the future.

If he stays, I will continue to support him and cheer him on like any Watford player, even if I personally think he's mediocre.

Because Deeney is literally the image of our club. Whether you think he's a good player or not, it would be an understatement to say that all he does is captain the squad. He is English, he was our top goalscorer last season, and most importantly, he is 'our' striker. Troy may not be here in a few years time but it would be silly to see him off just like that.

He showed us what he can do with a decent striking partner and without him we will lose a large portion of our already vague identity with the media

Big old lump. Like a Premier League Devon White.

People go on about Holebas moaning but this guy takes it to another level.

Doubt we'll remember him by October.

I really hope Okaka stays. He's got a touch of class about him and has an instinct for goal like Kevin Phillips used to have. That one he flicked in v Everton was one of the classiest goals at the Vic for many a year - instinctive.

Yes he's not the fastest, but he holds the ball up well (at least as well if not better than Deeney) and uses it well too. Good with his head too as we've also seen. I think the opposition are fooled by his size into thinking he's a simple battering ram, but he's got fast feet and a trick or two. Olympiacos aren't sniffing around because he's rubbish by the way.

I like him very much and hope we see a lot more of him in this coming season.

He did look like one of the few that was actually trying against Citeh on the last day. And he made a difference against Chelsea when he came on. I'd like him to stay, at the very least until we bring in somebody else first. Selling players before we have their replacements is a bit risky imo.

Thought his cameo until the hamstring at West Ham was one of the best off the bench debuts I have seen from a Watford player. Yes he wears gloves in April and acts like Mick McManus when the referee overlooks a foul, but he has a good touch and an eye for goal. He was woeful starting at West Brom, but unless significantly better turns up, I think he is worth an overseas number in the squad. Perhaps he is considered a Mazzarri signing and wants away, but then again I thought Ranegie looked ok

Basic principle. Only ship out when we have better lined up. I wouldn't be surprised if none of the sexy big names like Zapata are interested in coming to a little club who finished 4th bottom. When they are signed up, by all means let him go.

Commentary away at Muff is how I'll remember him. "Looks like he's running around with a piano on his back ". Can't fault his effort but by what I've read on here about him possibly causing a bad atmosphere in the dressing room. It could be a good move for everyone.

Spot on. He is far better technically than Deeney. Take the £20m or whatever we can get for Deeney and get in a mobile striker to partner Okaka.

When not trying to fall over and win free kicks he certainly can be a useful outlet with his size.

Would like to keep Okaka but might be part of Seba deal. Definitely need a tricky sharp striker in the box. Geovanni Simeone looks the real deal now Pepe not coming. Happy if we land Hughes and Lemina. Plenty of options for Marco and more strength in depth than last two years. COYHS!

Not sure I saw him hold up the ball or win too many headers to be honest? In that respect, he just used to fall over.

Not a bad player by any stretch but certainly not a target man. Just a lazy thing to credit him for due to his size.

Sell Deeney , Capoue, Amrabat and Behrami= 45 mill

Buy Simeone, Lemina , Markovic and Allan = 60 mill

Massive upgrade on each position for 15 mill outlay , largely covered by getting Deeney off the wage books and away from the club canteen.

Sell. He's terrible. If we are looking at players like Hughes, Lemina, Allen, I'd suggest we are looking to play more of a passing game. Okaka simply does not fit into that for me.

Deeney was bad last season for 2 reasons - unfit (he won't be given that chance again I doubt this summer) and because of our style of play. Okaka looked decent on rare occasions when it wasn't hard to look worse than Deeney. And against Everton.

I'm sorry but Deeney being unfit as an excuse doesn't wash. Awful example from the captain. Should be sold simply on that basis unless there are mitigating circumstances.

Makes me laugh about not shipping him out till a replacement found. Does anyone honestly thing Gino would get rid if doesn't have incomings in mind.
Thought Okaka not great but much more effective in mobility and hold up play than Deeney last season.

    Simeone/Mounie incoming?

I like okaka but think we can do better than him. If we sign another striker I can't see him playing much so if he wants to leave then that's fine with me.

A mobile striker like Simeone would be just what we need in terms of variation to help us change the game. Someone like Mounie would be a straight replacement, but with much higher potential than Okaka. He could also improve by learning from Deeney.

We could easily bring someone in we haven't been linked with yet, but I'm sure the Pozzo's know what they're doing either way. If we want to progress having 2 strikers of a similar level, style and age is something we could do with changing.

Deeney is all out training at the moment by the look of instagram. Maybe Silva sees Success more of a Cf. We still have Sinclair who is unproven to come in. Yes they've both been given positions out wide, but both can play centrally.
Pereyra will no doubt be the link between front and MF, so I have no problem if Okaka leaves.
