I have not bought a CD or mp3 for a good number of years. I started buying music only on vinyl in 2007 and I've never looked back. The only problem with this, is the car. Having not listened to mp3 for years - what a terrible quality they are. I've recently started buying my digital library in FLAC format, it is remarkable. So much better than mp3!

I have a few friends who are old and white like me. Most of my mates are Hispanic or Asian... Anyway, I was taken to a Deep Purple show last night. They have a lot of hits. Hilariously great. I guess there are three original members left including Ian Gillan, the guy who sang most of their hits. He did great for a 70+ year old, but there was a tent on stage behind the drummer where he would disappear to during guitar jams and drum solos. We could not see what was in it but surmised it had a recliner, a bottle of vodka and an oxygen tank.

Have been busy recently in 3 month work sabbatical , transcribing Fela Kuti s back catalogue which is pretty heavy going as each song is 15 mins + long.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but if you like James Brown, Jazz or Ghanian High Life then you lol probably dig this...

Seems they are headlining T in the Park and other festivals. Certainly won't be going anywhere near T in the Park, but would be good to see them at Glasto if they get a slot there too.

 

Shame about the early demise of Scott Weiland, STP were one of my faves in the 90's despite the music press always hating them just for not being from Seattle.
