I reckon £20k/wk for a set piece analyst and £10k/wk for the playing squad works.

No, the government could get their house in order by prioritising legislation that puts football clubs in a special category under business laws to stop con men preying on them. There's very little the EFL can do beyond the super obvious stuff they already outlaw. Anything else leads into protracted litigation which helps no one and which the con men would probably win.

You say that but I wonder if staff are included in that as I'm hopefully gonna be signing contracts with both a L1 + L2 team in the next week or so...

Reading the EFL statement it looks like it just covers registered players. Could even improve the prospects for your line of work if clubs now have to find differences in areas where previously their cheque book and the transfer market was the first resort.

If you work for two clubs and they were to play each other, would that be considered a conflict of interest? Good luck anyway!

Yeah, I've told each club (and the Championship club i'll be working with!) about each other - if they play each other i'll have to sit it out.

I reckon if the Championship club played the others you could swing it in favour of the little guy...

What a shame we are now in a league run by a scummy organisation who appeals against an independent tribunals decision and then states because the appeal decision was made by an independent tribunal it is final and cannot be appealed against.

And this is the same organisation who are happy to let Sheffield Wednesday penalty roll over to next season rather than this year which would have resulted in their relegation

I don’t think it’s scummy at all. Macclesfield signed up to this process. If their case was solid they’d have survived the appeal.

As for Sheffield Wednesday, given the offence was committed in 17/18 there’s no more logic to applying the position to the season just finished compared next season instead.

Now it appears Charlton Athletic are just days away from going under. Another club at risk because of the greed of their owners. Another club that didn't have a choice about signing up to the EFL's rigid rules. We all know that clubs are more than just businesses, they are a focal point for the community. We weren't far from going under post-Vialli.

In the meantime, EPL clubs get more & more money thrown at them by the media & sponsors, a fraction of which would help struggling clubs to survive unscrupulous owners, covid-19 etc.

Yet the Pozzos are the worse owners in the land and no nothing about football?

Alright they messed up this season but least we still have a competitive football club to support.

Probably won't need to if that Championship club are starting Cathcart and Kabasele.

Fair enough but my main point was they get more stick for sacking managers than other owners do for messing up their clubs as soon as they get there.

Owners at Charlton and Wigan haven't been there 5 minutes and already they are in a mess.

Pozzos have been here 8 years and this is potentially the first sign of trouble.

And even then we could be getting in a lot of income from sales to cover debts which most clubs will have .

Maybe for not much longer sadly. Another set of unscrupulous owners who passed the fit and proper test and are apparently happy to see the team go to the wall in order to claim the training ground in Greenwich and The Valley for housing development. The EFL should hand their heads in shame and the Ministry of Sport need to step in and formulate rules to list clubs as community assets. It is sad but entirely predictable to see many fans of Millwall revelling in this. No matter what the club is there are a group of individuals many of whom have spent their entire lives invested in the fortunes of a team who will be affected.

Disgraceful behaviour but very difficult for the FL to prevent. Once an owner has acquired a club it's very difficult to stop them doing what they want. At the outset it's very difficult to know their intentions and if they can prove they have funds, have no criminal convictions etc, how do the FL justify blocking a sale which could "save the club" ? Not sure what the answer is really.
