Well if the club sign him to replace Vydra it would suggest otherwise. If not then he'll be a useful addition to the squad.

No he's not. He 'sounds similar' so is therefore 'identical'.

    Makes sense right?

Depends. The club might be deliberately trying to replace our players with worse. In which case, I trust them to do so.

Isn't that the Pozzo way? Sell their 'best' players for a large profit and buy in inferior players to then hopefully get better and repeat the process?

****....I forgot that's what they do. It all starts to become clear.....

But Italy deemed him good enough to give him his full internation debut at 21 and he was included in their squad who were runners up at Euro 2012. He must therefore have shown a modicum of talent!

"sounds similar" is not the same as "identical". In fact you could say its not identical to sounding similar ;)
    I don't think he's identical but I do think he's inferior. Make sense ?

I think it is a truth universally acknowledged that any player who has a celebrity wife/OK! shoot before they really do the business on the field is not going to make it. I have nothing to back this up with, but you know it is true.

Similarly identical? Identically similar? I believe in the Quique era it's important to have a term for this.

He's a player with more experience in the PL, is home-grown, and has much more experience playing on the wing than Vydra does, so has some versatility. He's also a little less slight, I seem to recall. Loyalty to Vydra is all well and good but if he can't fit the system, then some people will just need to get over it, as he doesn't have the physical presence to play on his own up front, or, seemingly, the tactical discipline to play wide or in behind the striker. Playing two up front and blasting opponents away was all very well last year, but we need to be able to defend this year, and the system seems to manage this well so far, and if Vydra can't fit in it, then that's the sacrifice you make. Think Borini could be a very useful addition, can play a couple of positions, and is just coming to the point where he needs to realise some of his undoubted potential, and I think settling in permanently at a club could help this. People seem to be assuming that he should have scored 20 goals playing largely on the wing for Sunderland, or walked straight into Liverpool's first team, and that he's not as good as Vydra if he hasn't done this.

I accept that they might be similarly identical, but no way are they identically similar. I'm just not having it.

So you don't think we should have the ability to ever change from 4-2-3-1 ? Its that or nothing 90 mins every match ? If MV can't fit into that system then let a brilliant finisher go and replace him with an inferior finisher as he is better playing wide in a 4-2-3-1 ?? I actually believe Borini would be a good option to have in the squad but he won't score goals that MV would have if we need to switch to 4-4-2 to chase a game in the later stages.

Why are you so convinced that Vydra will score goals in the Premier? Deeney was even more prolific in the Championsip but as yet has drawn a blank and to be honest never looked like scoring. You may be right but I don't think we will find out.

Assuming Ighalo gets a reasonable amount of playing time, I can see him as ending up being our leading scorer.

Yes, but a celebrity wife is better than goal difference at the end of the season.

Yes but we know why Deeney hasn't scored - same reason Matty isn't getting in the team ! Put them both in and they will both score. I agree, we will never know due to the inflexibility of QSF and his desire to get MV out.

Inflexibility that has been very very successful for him. You can interchange between 442 and 433 with ease.

It's going to take time before we can start switching tactics during the match.
The players are only getting used to each other and to the league so it will be relatively basic to start with.
Personally I've been fairly impressed with our 3 performances in the PL league so far this season.

We need to wait until we have a settled squad or at the very least until after the 25 man squad is named.
To say now that the manager is inflexible with his tactics is rash & naive

He's a brilliant finisher in the Championship as was Borini.
If Vydra is not wanted, he's not wanted. Get over it.

I may struggle to. Especially if we struggle for goals and he's banging the goals in somewhere else. On a serious point, there doesn't seem to be any sign of a back up for Deeney to play the lone role. We are really exposed if he loses form, gets injured, gets suspended etc. I don't fancy Odion up there on his own and I accept MV couldn't have covered.

It would, proven Prem scorer, can play 4231, £15 mill right now looks a snip compared to what is at stake. I fear though the outrage if Deeney ends up on the bench will bring down the internet.

Totally agree. He needs to work very hard on his movement. City showed yesterday that you don't need a big man in that position.

As long as you are spending most of the time swarming over your opponents with players of the quality of Silva and Sterling around you. Personally I think 4-2-3-1 is great for a solid defensive set up but we need some flexibility for games we need to win and when 4-2-3-1 hasn't worked and we're behind in a game. Can't see where the shots let alone the goals are coming from at the moment.

Odion is more than capable to play that roll. It's about movement and playing the right balls in. It's work in progress. Vydra showed he could play that position against Preston but wasn't supplied. Things take time.

I must admit for all the criticism QSF is getting over where Deeney spent most of the game on the pitch yesterday I'm starting to wonder how much of that is down to Deeney himself. Did he drop too deep?
