For only the second time in our history and the first for many fans, we head to Wembley to take on Manchester City in this year's FA Cup final. Christ I never thought I would see the day!

    The Opposition

It's fair to say that City have had a very good season, again, with them retaining the Premier League title, winning the Charity Shield and Carabao Cup. The only real disappointment they have had is going out to Spurs in the Champions League, a trophy Pep Guardiola and Sheikh Mansour truly desire.

The City squad, as we know, is chock full of superstars and big names from the likes of Almeric Laporte and John Stones in defence to Raheem Sterling and the lethal Sergio Aguero up top.

The expensively assembled squad have on the whole swept opposition aside with rapid and incisive attacks and resolute defending but they are beatable. If you can get behind their full backs/second wingers (as they virtually play) you can create chances. That does all depend on being able to defend though.

A win for City on Saturday will provide the first clean sweep of the modern era domestically, something they will want to achieve.

    More to follow.

We have a chance. A 0.00000001% chance but its still a chance. We have to go all out attack when we can but its going to be backs to the wall for 90% of it.

Who would you pick? Gomes for me. Foster needs a break. Cathcart will start as will Kabs and with Holebas out its going to be our stalward Mapps. Capoue, Delafoo, Hughes and Bobby P, Deeney and Gray up top.

3 / 5 / 2 formation and try to flood midfield. Hitting them on the break is a chance. Everyime we go forward we expose our defence so its a tough one.

Sterling is going to have Mapps on toast. Give it a go is all we can ask. If we lose then keep it respectable.

5% we win, 45% we lose by one or two, 50% we lose by 3 or more. Sounds about right to me. Praying for the the 1 in 20 chance.....

I liken my emotions to those in the Blackadder III episode with the Scarlett Pimpernel.
I felt euphoric after the Wolves game and for about the next two weeks.
Since then a gradual realisation has set in.
I'm just about to leap into the corner and die!

This is my first ever cup final so looking forward to it. Obviously we go into the game as slight favourites but we should take nothing for granted. City have good players who can hurt us if we don't stay switched on. However, I agree with most pundits that we should be too strong for them. I can't see them living with Mariappa if he gets into full flow.

    Prediction

    Watford 4-3 Man City
    Mariappa (7, 23, 69, 90+8), Deeney (sent off 90+7); Aguero (90+1, 90+4), Deeney (og 90+7)

Drab win that few will remember, but we take home the cup and add it to the trophy pile.

I am looking forward to the "build up" so much I probably will be "incapable" of seeing the game.

I feel this is probably for the best in all honesty.

We have to be considered in attack when we can, certainly not ‘all out attack’!

Holebas isn’t suspended. Kabasele is unlikely to start I’d say. And I suspect Gracia will go with his usual formation. Playing a rarely tested 3-5-2 is a risk too far.

    4-1. Mike Sheron hat-trick.

For fun, how about a combined team from 1984 and 2019?

    Here's my effort:-
Foster, Bardsley, Terry, Cathcart, Holebas, Doucoure, Capoue, Callaghan, Barnes, Johnston, Deulofeu.
Subs: Gomes, Jackett, Taylor, Deeney, Reilly, Pereyra, Mariappa

Great early-90s Man City reference. I wonder the City forum has ever mentioned Jason Solomon?

There is handicapping in horse racing.

If we're 4 goals worse than Citeh, why shouldn't we have more players?

This is my fifth Wembley trip, 1984,1999 and the 2 Palarse games. I'm bringing my lad who's now old enough to have a few pre match beers. We're driving down to Watford and getting the train from the High Street.

What are the best pubs between the train station and the stadium? I v-cant remember from the games that were in the last century and the last two trips my lad was too young so we went straight to the ground, Any suggestions gratefully received.
