I have nothing against Christians but I favoured the lions.
That win last night cheered me ever so slightly, that and Palace losing.

Yep. WI were favourites at the start of the over. 6 balls later and it's over.

I was getting worried that the Windies were actually going to overhaul our 418 total, thank goodness for Rachid is all I can say

What a match that was

The greatest story in recent sport.

20 years ago, organised cricket didn't exist in Afghanistan & the Afghans were playing with taped up tennis balls in refugee camps.

Today, they have some of the top white ball players in the world & now have won a test.

Glad we avoided them in the semi final.

I presume the County Championship will be over by early May so everyone can get on with the more important Biff Boff Bash stuff?

I’ve heard the CC from this year will comprise a coin toss in the ICC office in Dubai.

Saves on playing cricket & on laundry.

    Lancs just beaten UAE.

Maybe this will become a great traditional fixture.

As a matter of interest, I know you're from Amersham and a cricket fan, did you ever play for Amersham Hill CC?

Must be an outside chance that Hildreth won’t be picked for the Ashes.

Hi, I missed this one. I spent many hours at Shardeloes as a young 'un. Never any good but enthusiastic. Dim memories of playing at AHCC. Clearer teenage memories of buying my first proper motorbike from a garage near there.

Australia are just coming into form in test and 50 over cricket. They will win everything this summer unless the summer is really damp and miserable. OK, second thoughts, they will win nothing then.

I started at Shardeloes as a 10 year old but found that unless you played rugby for Chiltern Rugby Club you didn't get a game for Amersham! I only asked as rather sadly Amersham Hill Cricket Club closed it's doors for the final time a few weeks ago and I know you lived in Amersham and Chesham Bois and you are a cricket fan. Chesham Bois CC is still going though

My main memory of Shardeloes was the smell of stale beer & Mars Bars in the pavilion.

Sad to hear about AH but excellent that CB is still going. I lived a few hundred yards from the little sylvan glade where CB play. An idyllic setting.

Unclear how morality enters into the issue.

More even handed to say that Woakes wants the last bowling slot ahead of Archer.

    Fair enough.

Not necessarily but a poor reflection on his character. It's a second offence.

Maybe he's just born at the wrong time.

In the 80s many of the top lads spent more time wielding a reefer than the willow.

Alex Hales dropped from the World Cup squad - who will replace him?

    Shame.

Hales was instrumental in the 300++ approach which has served us so well recently.

Back up to Roy & Bairstow now but an excellent bench option.

Not sure they will go for a direct replacement. Vince as a batsman or Jofra Archer to give a bowling option?

Sounds like the ECB have back on their word to Hales hat his place in the squad would be safe if he went on some sort of re-hab course so guess there might be more to this than we have heard.

Really really disappointing. Think he is a brilliant 1 day player and I would always have him in the 11 along with Roy, Bairstow and Stokes, not on the bench. He can win a match.
The possible replacements are not in the same league.

I get the feeling cricekt is still dominated by the public school brigade and they don't like the ultra-aggressive competitive types like Stokes, Hales, Flintoff etc. Would rather play a few foreigners born in Sth Africa or Australia than an Englishman who smokes a bit of pot or gets into fight outside a nighclub. They are the types you need to win competitions.

In fairness this is the second time he's been caught and was also involved in the Stokes incident. Kids look up to players like him so if you do nothing then it says it's ok to have a fight and take drugs. I'm surprised the ban isn't longer, utter muppet
