I'm currently in Peru and every local I've spoken to reckon he's their best player, world cup qualification hopes basically on his shoulders. I'd planned to see his old club but unfortunately dates didn't work.

Alianza Lima's ground is in a very rough neighbourhood anyway. Unfortunately I've never seen a match in the many times that I've visited, usually because all but one visit has been during the close season.

However I can confirm that when locals know you're English they do like talking football, my last visit last Christmas it was a bit easier explaining who Watford are now we're premier league.

All I can say is that he has taken to the PL like the proverbial duck to water. It helps having other South Americans at the club and a manager that believes in him. A constant menace down the flank and like Richarlison they have bought into the defensive unit ethic. Not fazed at all by the level of competition either. His presence here also has elevated our coverage in Peru no end.

If he keeps up this form we should try to make his deal permenant in the January window, or can that be done outside the windows?

He may decide to go elsewhere if he gets a better offer, maybe? It is some sort of "option" in his contract, but that doesn't mean too much does it?

Think him & Silva have got quite the relationship, if he can recapture his best form again I reckon he'd probably question whether leaving too soon would be the right move.

Haven't seen it mentioned or heard it yet (maybe the dizzying performances I've witnessed have numbed a few senses).

Early days but he will score some. He's come close a couple of times so far, very close and they're chances that would otherwise have gone begging so not just hit and hope. Was just unlucky to be caught offside last week

Even if the Benfica quotes are true they're the pretty standard 'I still have a contract with my parent club that I will honour' lines. Doesn't mean he wouldn't rather stay given the choice. I suspect it depends on how successful our season is.

The quotes in the Portuguese rag have the ring of authenticity about them. The ones saying he wanted to stay were much more generic.

If he really is a Benfica fan and it's his dream to tear up the prem and return to them triumphantly to take up his first team place, then fair enough. Don't mind that.

If he wants to stay, well he's got zero goals and zero assists so far, so he's still got a bit to prove as far as I'm concerned. All very well going past a defender or two, but we need to see some end product. Amrabat and Jurado had zero goals and zero assists - those are easy to find.

Then there's the question of the missed header v WBA which my teenage daughter who hates football could have scored. We could have been level by HT if that had gone in. Then the 95th minute Charlie Rich job would have been the winner as it so rightly deserved.

So he's in deficit as far as I'm concerned, so far.

hmm lisbon or watford. It's a conundrum that's for sure.

On the one hand you've got beautiful beaches, the bairro alto and all the pastel de nata you can eat.

Whilst on the otherhand you've got intu, PRYZM nighclub and enormous fat girls who'll drop their knickers for a bag of chips.

    It's a toughy.

Never seen these enormous fat girls that are so accommodating, they sound truly wonderful.
I normally get the train straight back to LB after games, but will definitely be hanging around in Watford now.
    Which chippy do they prefer?

Sounds like Carrillos' agent is currently negotiating the wages for his new, permanent, 5 year Watford contract

Not sure but Brexit will be a complete disaster and we should have another referendum on the proposed deal/no deal from the EU. We, the, people, didn't know what we were voting for.

Yes we did, but we voted against the wishes of the global elite, who want a one world totalitarian state, so they will never let it happen.

I was reading that they had a massive fireworks display outside the New Zealand team's hotel at 3am the night before the match. And the Peruvian air force flew fighter jets low over the top of the hotel in a show of force.

I was in Lima for New Years, trust me when they going with fireworks they don't know when to stop. They went on from about 10pm to 3am, naturally I too decided to blow up some of my money.

It isn't just the fireworks. It's the absolute noise, from pipes put down the exhaust silencers on high revving, but small CC motorbike to a score or more of newly wedded couples driving off into married bliss with a student's party's worth of empty beer cans dragging behind... except nobody actually got married.
