Actually, does his goal vs the Champo League finalists qualify MB as our fox in the (six yard) box)?

    Pure Fowler/Lineker.

I thought Della Valle was supposed to be selling La Viola and I'm not sure therefore they could afford RP?

His transfer to Guangzhou Evergrande was liked on Instagram by Richarlison and Carrillo, read into that what you will... Maybe they all know about the ruse...

Probably just angling for a move there themselves.

Why should Carrillo care? At least, I hope he doesn't have any reason to.

Guangzhou Evergrande sounds like a Bond villain.

Bomd? Good idea - maybe all villains should be disposed of that way.

If he's as good as he's cracked up to be, then the Chinese Super League should be easy for him - basically one long training session. Perhaps the loan agreement might stipulate he's not meant to play every game either.

That's because, unlike Besiktas, we actually own and would still own the contract of the player in question - the Besiktas agreement could have perhaps stated that they'd receive a cut of any fee within a specified time-frame of him having played for them.

Thats very possible. Although I'd have thought that any fee needed to pay Besiktas would be a percentage of the transfer fee he moves for - if its £19m as suggested, can't see it being anymore than 10/15% - whats that £3m at most? If he's as good as people are saying, doesn't seem much extra to pay to get him now rather than January.

    Not sure I’m convinced

1)if he needed to be loaned somewhere for 6 months, why not loan to us then sell him
2)we don’t buy strikers capable of scoring 20+ goals, we buy midfield players
3)2 quality Brazilians playing for us, who do we think we are Everton

If he is that good £20 mil is far to cheap

And as Amrabat is mentions above, do we think we will ever see him again, if he has learnt to cross could be a real asset

Bobby was one of our more consistent players at the end of the season and one of my favourites. I'd be surprised if they could afford him plus his wages. Clearly did not take a cut when he joined. Hot air!

Think it's more likely him looking for a move. I don't think he ever envisaged staying more than a year with us, but obviously injuries meant otherwise.

I agree. But the other thing he did consistently was go off after 45-60 mins. He needs to do more and give more to the team.

I’m not debating his talent. But it wouldn’t surprise me if we were looking perhaps to swap him for someone who does the things that he doesn’t - especially while we can still get decent money for him, and he’s probably not adverse to a move back to Italy.

Though I have never disliked Pereyra, I have been one of the loudest people on the forum in saying that he needs to step up and earn the reputation he had been dining out on since arriving here. However, I thought we were really starting to see what he can do at the end of the season. Possibly the most impressive thing Gracia did as our coach was get a tune out of him, and playing wide at that.

There are a lot of exciting things to look forward to next season, and at the moment, seeing Roberto Pereyra build on his fantastic end of season form is One that I am particularly keen to see. I can't see him wanting to go with the players we appear to be getting in.

Neither can I. But there’s only so many overseas slots available and I suspect we may see 1 or 2 go who will surprise us.

Wouldn't be upset to see Pereyra go. Sure, on his day he is a real handful and has genuine quality, but he is so inconsistent as well as injury prone.

I have no idea who Talisca is.

Zeeglaar...Wague...Okaka. There are 3 that can go for a start, but I am sure I could think of more if I tried. It is still possible that players like Britos and Holebas could move on before the season starts. We have more home grown players now than 2 years ago so why worry?

I'm not worried. But given we are being linked with lots go midfielders, if theres any truth in any of them, then its logical to think midfielders will also be leaving. Wague wasn't in the squad anyway. Masina will take Zeegelaar's place. Okaka will likely be replaced by another striker. Britos may go but the new contract is a worry. And Holebas being in the kit reveal video makes me think he'll be staying. Of course we'd all get rid of all of the above before Bobby P - but the squad has to be balanced and there actually has to be teams willing to take them. The fact we have more homegrown players doesnt really mean much at the moment - a club that has a recruitment/scouting policy such as ours will always fill the overseas slots.

This is in no way me saying I would sell Pereyra or want him to go. But if we are upgrading our attacking midfielders, I'd say logic says thats he's maybe the most vulnerable.

Only catch is Pereyra is playing well at LW where Richarilson would play, so if we kept him I could see it switching between the two, with Pereyra more versatile able to fill in the midfield as needed.

I was just about to post asking why the heck you bumped a thread about some random journeyman we were once linked with who rejected us to play for China...
    but then I remembered.
So is anyone any the wiser yet as to if we've definitely got an agreement to sign him? Maybe he's the "£20million striker" we've been rumoured in another thread to have lined up (even though he's more an attacking midfielder)?

He'd be damn useful for us.

It's reassuring that, as I suspected earlier in the thread, he should be finding the Chinese league a bit easy - so that if/when he joins us later in the season he shouldn't be too knackered.
