Apparently Nicolas Gaitan from Atletico Madrid is on Watford's wanted list. It's in the Spanish paper Marca. I'll post a link as soon as I find one.
Is Silva recommending every single half decent player from the Portuguese leagues whilst he was there?
I would rather have Younas or Grosicki from Hull. Can we get another player in on international loan this season anyway?
I'd welcome this with open arms. Very tricky, skilled winger who can score and above all is a team player. Defends as well as he attacks and can drop in as a playmaker. Not had a chance at Atletico surprisingly under Simeone and has a wealth of experience in international, club and cup football. He was one of the better players under the stewardship of Martino in the Argentina national team. And then dropped mysteriously under Bauza for no reason.
This report distills the Marca article. Seems Silva is very keen. Could see this happening. http://sportwitness.co.uk/watford-s...-signing-cash-advantage-marco-silva-led-deal/
Just checked and he played 4 times last year for Argentina. Considering the abundance of attacking players they have, thats impressive.
About 10 times (twice live). I fail to see your point, I'm talking about his Atletico form which has been average. Or were you trying to be the big man and get a laugh?
Simeone was what went wrong for him strangely enough with him being a compatriot. As it has for Luciano Vietto who sparkled at Villareal and then has not had a look in. Angel Correa has flirted with being a first team regular there and this makes the prospects for another potential Aguero Lautaro Martinez who will be joining Atletico in the summer rather uncertain. Any player who sits on the bench and does not play regularly is bound to deteriorate in match sharpness and fitness or build up any synergy with his team mates. At Benfica he was one of the key cogs in the machine and at Boca as well. And the complete opposite at Atletico. Makes me wonder why Simeone signed him at all.
So no injuries? Just purely being overlooked? Anything near the type of player he was in Portugal and he will be a coup
It is bemusing Carpster. As I said he's not the only Argentine player that has not really had a chance under Simeone. Correa and Vietto as well. And has left many followers of the Albiceleste rather annoyed with Simeone. He's a very very good player. Better than the headless chickens we have on the wings aside from Richarlison. He was one of the few under Martino to work as a team player when all deferred to Messi and like Pereyra is a hard worker too. I would not hesitate to bring him in. Also brings great ability to set pieces. When you see some of the dross Cleverley served up. A free kick which turned into a Swansea corner well..... He, Pereyra, Richie and Zarate would have a great synergy I think. And if needed he can play as a ten. If he did come here there is no chance he will get into a World Cup squad as Sampaoli has his eyes on players like Acuna, di Maria, Bustos, Perotti and Joaquin Correa but given the appalling service we have had from the wings this season well it would be a much needed boost.
Can't really quote on Correa and Vietto. Though have seen the latter on a few occasions, but not enough. Agreed delivery again today was very very poor. Love Tom but he shouldn't have those duties all the time. Well all I can say is I hope this one comes off. Our current wide men could do with a rest and I believe he could bring the best out of Pereya.
From SSN GAITAN CHASE HOTS UP A quartet of Premier League clubs are leading the chase to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Nicolas Gaitan, reports Marca. Watford, West Ham, Southampton and Everton are all battling it out to land the 29-year-old. Marca reports that two of these Premier League clubs want to sign him on a permanent basis, while the other pair are interested in a loan deal until the end of the season. Atleti, who value Gaitan at €20m, plan to sit down with the player soon to decide which offer from England is the most suitable for all parties concerned.
Also, they're all having disappointing seasons and if Everton and West Ham have a chance to throw money around then they will.
Let me get this right - we shouldn’t be after a player because some other clubs who are larger in stature want him too? This our 3rd season in the PL and we are in the top half. We should be in for players regardless of others interest. Ajax and AC Milan are bigger than us. Still got Richarlison though didn’t we?
