Weren’t Berni Inns de rigueur back in the day? Their main selling point seemed to be they were open and served food and beer in the same place.
Oh, and a small white wine for the missus.

I always used to think random had an “n” on the end. I just googled it in case it was an alternative spelling and came across this very helpful tip which I will use in future.
“If you've inadvertently written "randomn" instead of "random", fear not, for there are easy solutions. The correct spelling is "random" and a simple way to rectify the error is to remove the extra 'n'. Double-checking your spelling before finalizing your work will help avoid such small mistakes.”

How, with a USA population of 335million can the presidential front runners boil down to Trump and Biden? Is that really the best that they can manage to put up to lead the "free world"? Scares the s*** out of me.

Trump is an idiot but I understand why he's popular with the thicker element who just believe what they are told by a confident loud-mouthed bully. How Biden is the best the USA can do for the "sane alternative" is astonishing. He clearly struggles to think quickly and even stay awake. He's 30 years past his "best-before date".

And yet plenty of people who've briefed him at the WH have said either on or off the record he's engaged with topics, on top of his brief, asks pertinent questions, adds useful insight etc. Unlike Trump who never even read his briefings and where all the on and off record reports about his level of understanding and openness to debate were dire.

Where Biden struggles and his age shows is the performative bit of politics. There he's well past his prime, though really it's a joke for any country to have an executive leader in their 80s given the risk of them keeling over. He's there because 4 years ago there was no alternative that fit the bill to beat Trump from the Democrat side.

I'm assuming that as long as I have a few logins left, I'll just respawn every time I die, like a semi-immortal force of nature. Not sure how much use snarky internet posts will be in the big push for Moscow, but I'm gonna do my best!

We won the war in 1945 and most of the soldiers back then seemed to smoke. If it worked then I see no reason why it won't work now. Must be a good source of vitamins or testosterone or something. Definitely worth a quick google.

It fascinating watching how many people have a strong opinion about him that's ultimately based on nothing more than how he looks in press conferences.

That's the world we live in now. You win or lose an election based on how well you deliver a few key lines in a press conference. When you're 80 ish the slightest pause, appearance of confusion, tiredness, is over-exaggerated by the opposition. Much of the public is intellectually-challenged and not prepared to dig any deeper. Look at the camera and state forcefully and confidently that the election was stolen from you, and people will genuinely believe you.

Or have the country destroyed based on the way a bloke looks in a freeze frame of him eating a bacon sandwich.

There was great line in a TV show once, an evil US Senator said ‘half the public don’t even vote and the other half are too stupid to know what they’re even voting for’.

    Elections in a nutshell.
