Looking back at the thread when Holebas was released that wasn't really the case:

    https://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/jose-holebas.57286/

I wonder how many of those who didn't mind seeing him go would have changed their tune now given the talentless and/or shirking left-backs who have played since?

For me, THE goal of my life was George Reilly’s at Villa Park in ‘84 to take us to the Cup Final. The Cup Final! Amazing at the time.

That Leicester goal was all about a perfect team move and yes he finished it well, but the play before hand from Almunia's double save to the goal was equally as good. Best goal I have seen at the Vic for pure technique alone was Vydra's opening goal in the same game. Just didn't even make it look hard. Away from home? Chris Eagles winner at Brighton and probably Hoedt's at Hull this season. But Livermore's first at QPR was also excellent.

It was made all the sweeter for me as it shut up the vile Plymouth fans who made disgusting racist noises as Barnes steamed down the left wing to put in a sublime cross for Reilly. Take that green scum.

Full video is just a sweary QPR mutant ranting but mute the sound and fast forward to 5:19 to see a beautiful angle of that goal

Those West London gentlemen really are a most unpleasant sort. I don't recommend anyone under the age of 30 watches this video as some of the language is quite shocking.

Yep just checked the thread. As usual the knowledgeable posters were sad to see him leave and valued his input.

Kind of ignores the fact he’s now nearly 40 mate, are you suggesting we should’ve just kept him forever?

And I don’t think was keen to stay ..

Kamara is a classic example of how things can change so quickly though if we are talking about left backs .

From “hero to zero” in a few months .

That wasn't the point I was making or the one that some posters expressed in his thread - some people indicated that they just didn't like him and they didn't even value him when he was actually good for us.

I was wondering if in hindsight they'd re-evaluate their assessment of him.

I don’t actually think he was that great, he played with a constant scowl on his face which some people took as him being ‘commited’ and ‘pashunat” but he wasn’t actually that good defensively, he made plenty of errors, he regularly tried to do things further up the pitch he just didn’t have the skill for, and from memory took most of our corners which were all mostly horrendous.

But it’s all moot, because after leaving us aged about 35 he played the sum total of about 30 more games at a significantly lower level before retiring, so for those who weren’t that bothered about seeing the back of him, there wasn’t exactly a viable alternative was there?

To publicly criticise one of his players was never going to end well. Typical Troy acting before he thinks. He's not the sharpest tool in the box is he.

Is it possible to clarify who the knowledgeable posters please? It'd be lots more efficient if I could put them on ignore all at the same time.

Phrase of "Wash Mouth Out with Soap" come to mind. Some of that language seemed very much on a more almost 'personal' attack on Livermore and Haner especially.

Your exact quote was "he didn't have the skill for" - I'm just pointing out that he did.

And he got 3 goals and 6 assists in 27 games in our 18/19 PL season - that is a very good return.

I see FGR got a useful point at Gillingham.

Deeney will probably take credit for that!

Gary Porters goal at Norwich (96?) and Jonno's volley at Bristol City. I hate the Leicester goal!
