Yes. Plus Muff offered him Brownsea Island to join. We offered Ricky aquadrome.

I've checked on all the football stats websites, but I can find no reference to a player called Ricky Aquadrome.

Might you have misspelt his first name?

He played for Spurs in the early eighties I think.

Seems a bit of a waste if you're not going to drink it, really.

We may in fact have offered him a Ricky Villa. Try that name?

Spot on - he was always polite and courteous with me, though obviously I now look back and think he must have done the interview knowing he wanted out, or possibly that he had another job lined up.

As for the hate levelled at him, I can understand why people point the finger - but to me it felt like blaming a stewardess for the crash of a plane.

Exactly this, first we had a ridiculous amount of vitriol aimed at Giraldi, he then got hounded out but funnily enough nothing changed (they in fact got much worse) and now the same has happened with Giaretta.

People are now worrying about the fact Nani hasn’t worked for 5 years, I think that just perfectly demonstrates why the hate for these people is completely misguided, Giraldi, Giaretta and now Nani, these people are just glorified admin assistants, they aren’t in control of all our signings and shaping our transfer strategy in any way, they’ll just be involved in player liaison stuff and contract negotiations, but not the actual scouting of players. That’s why the fact Nani hasn’t worked for 5 years, it’s irrelevant to the role he’ll actually carry out. like his predecessors he’ll just oversee the actual signings from an admin point of view, but in the most part will have little to do with the actual players we’re signing.

These individuals are always a convenient scapegoat for people, because they’re the ones that do most of the talking, but they move on and suprise suprise, nothing much changes.

All true. But having Pozzo yes men on the payroll doing very little is also a problem. As is Duxbury’s vastly overinflated premier league package.

It’s all a mess. Giaretta does nothing. Fine. But then Bilic says Manga meant there were too many people involved in transfers and he and Giaretta had it all covered. I suspect you are right but there are a fair few lies going around about what people actually do for our narcissistic owner. It’s one big unaccountable gravy train.

I’m definitely not saying people shouldn’t be pleased someone like Giaretta has gone, or that he was actually a nice person, I just think the likes of Giraldi, Giaretti and Nani don’t/wont have roles that make any meaningful impact on who we actually target to bring in, or our overall transfer policy.

In of itself, being an overpaid yes man is enough reason to want someone out of the club, but they will only be replaced by the next overpaid yes man, paid to do Gino’s dirty work, wether that’s spying on training, speaking to the media or taking credit or otherwise for various hiring and firings.

People got annoyed that Giraldi was taking notes in training, but he wasn’t just doing it off his own back and when he left nothing at all materially changed.

Nani hasn’t had a job for 5 years, but as far as unearthing the next Brazilian wonder kid is concerned it’s irrelevant because that won’t be his job, it will be all of the above.

Giaretti was at the game tonight as usual so may have resigned but 'running notice ' perhaps? :)

I'm hearing that Giaretta has not actually left and instead VI was seen packing up his stuff and saying his goodbyes after the match.
Something about "a poor pre-season" and "confusion over roles".

Not sure it’s that messy? It’s shady yeah but the “Sporting Directors” are just glorified PA’s because Gino doesn’t want to be seen really.

The Mogi Bayat stuff is far more concerning because Gino clearly said it’s a normal relationship but he’s there at most home games; that’s not normal. So what is the truth here?

Not sure if it’s been mentioned anywhere - but seeing as Giaretta has rocked up as Sporting Director of the mighty Pafos FC in Cyprus, would lend credence to the idea he was forced out rather than quitting.

Mind you, I was at my brothers wedding near Pafos in the summer and I know where I’d choose…
