Leventhal reporting Jamaica international striker Shamar Nicholson is on our radar. Plays for Spartak Moscow in Russia, but used to play for, wait for it...Charleroi!
Ismaël stated he hoped we sign our number one target. Kaba and Nicholson mentioned but there are other targets we’re looking at. No mention as to who our number one target is though.
I hope we sign him - every time we have a late mid-week fixture he'll make sure it's a night to remember.
Not at my computer so can't check, but I'm guessing: That he takes a lot of high xG shots, is decent but not exceptional in the air and doesn't offer much else in any other aspect of his game?
His goalscoring record over the last couple of seasons has been: 1 goal per 103 minutes for Charleroi 1 goal per 199 minutes for Shakhtar All from open play. But then Bayo's goalscoring record for Charleroi in the season before we signed him was 1 goal from open play every 118 minutes - s0 not far off Nicholson's at all. He seems alright, maybe has a bit more composure than Bayo, but also doesn't seem as quick as him. He'd score goals and could be a very slight upgrade, but not convinced it'd be a major one.
Didn't play much last season in Russia (10.3 90s) but really good xG numbers, higher than I was expecting. Didn't turn them into goals though (3 goals from 6.48 xG). If we want a striker that takes lots of shots but can't finish them then I'd suggest one Vakoun Bayo (his stats last season with us), who's already on our payroll.
If we’re happy to sign a striker who doesn’t offer much in terms of build up, then I’d like to think we can get one who is clinical at least. We can’t go and sign another striker who isn’t good at anything besides missing chances
That's the thing though, there's a huge demand for strikers currently (both in the league and across football in general) and not enough quality to fill that demand, pretty sure if you were to go on most sides forums in the league everyone will be complaining that they need a striker. Then you chuck in our financial situation as well and it severely limits the options we *do* have
It’s tough to buy a ready made striker. This is when you need a world class scouting network, maybe a sister club to loan from or a £2.5m annual salary budget to pay the club’s leaders and you might get results. If only we had something like that.
The closer we get to the end of the window Gino will start rifling through Mogi's little book of crud as desperation sets in. Manga won't know what's hit him.
Can see us getting success back from udinese at this rate to fill the no 9 role ,you borrow some of ours we will borrow some of yours
To be serious for a moment. Can we buy a player from Russia at the moment? Don't the sanctions affect the sale of footballers?
I wouldn’t get too excited - from the bits I’ve seen online he looks like Keinan Davis mark II but with a better long range shot on him - looks pretty slow - hard to tell on a few snipers admittedly
