Agreed on this, didn’t find it all that inspiring at the time. But from what I’m hearing and seeing everything seems to be a step in the right direction towards this fresh start we’ve needed so bad. My expectations for the season aren’t huge but if we can genuinely start to build something then I’m all for it.
Supposedly, according to a very loose Twitter account, we’re interested in signing James Gomez from AC Horsens. He’s a 21 yr old CB from Gambia. Know nothing about him but a quick look through some data websites/apps/programs and he looks decent. Obviously this is based off very limited knowledge but I’m sure some on here will know a lot more about him.
Think most of our loans will come from Udinese this season so figured I would go look through their squad and pick out players that potentially could be sent here. Filip Benkovic CB Enzo Ebosse LCB Jordan Zemura LB Leonardo Buta LB Festy Ebosele RWB/RW Martin Palumbo CM Simone Pafundi AM Vivaldo ST
I realise most on here refer to their main team as The Arsenal, but to start prefixing former players is a bit much. And Perry The Grove(s) surely can't still be playing!?!
Or any potential signings really, especially in midfield. Can't imagine anyone wants Sieralta filling in there for the first couple of games.
Genuinely don’t think we will sign more than one player before the Palace game on the 22nd. Also don’t think we will sign anymore players after that game until the final week of the window.
Another exciting day awaits …. No news, no substantial links or rumours - but I can’t wait to see someone training.
It will reach a crescendo as we approach deadline day. Will we or won’t we get Livermore over the line ?
It’s been a week for him so I would imagine we’d be in line for a photo of Kayembe’s first bead of sweat today.
https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/23648137.trio-watford-players-look-set-loan-transfer/ The most interesting snippet is Maduka Okoye's fee being reported as initially only €3.5m, which is about £2.5m - £2.75m I think. (Correct me if wrong) Whilst it's still an egregious waste of money as it stands, it's not quite as grim. But it would pay for a Styles currently.
The social media team have been busy today ... .Happy Birthday Etienne Capoue, followed by Yaser's here ...... They must be working on a big signing, maybe multi player reveal - or they are as bored as we are !!!
We are broke. We don't have the money to buy any decent players. We can't even stretch to £2m. This where we are as a club.
Well tomorrow is thursday and nothing ever happens on a thursday so the social media team are going to have to up their game to fill the void
It could easily have nothing to do with us, but a bit strange that James Abankwah, the young Irish CB at Udinese, is currently training with Anthony Elanga and Mason Greenwood (in Dubai supposedly, albeit it doesn't look much like it in the photo), as opposed to being back for pre-season with Udinese: https://twitter.com/mufcMPB/status/1678866797166985217 https://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/soccer/soccer-news/ireland-star-james-abankwah-pictured-30448803
I genuinely applaud you for the effort in making this a possible link to us, no matter how tenuous ....its been so boring lately anything will do - thanks
Indeed it has. Given that Elanga and Greenwood are both currently in limbo at Utd, with Elanga seemingly close to being sold to Everton and no decision yet made on Greenwood, I just wonder if Abankwah is also perhaps in a situaion where it's not yet been decided where he'll play next season - and if he does move then given our obvious propensity for loaning Udinese players and the fact he's training with England-based players, we'd be an obvious candidate.
Could try and get Jamal Lewis on loan or cheap purchase from Newcastle? Was good for Norwich a few years ago, still young and good at getting up and down the left wing. Not exactly featured last year and that won't seemingly change, so doubt they'd be in a position to ask for much as his worth has only decreased as not featured. Wouldn't impact Styles if he's still a target as he'd fill one of the CM spaces we want to add to and adds effective quality Depth anyway to there.
Ebosele last year would have been my pick but Andrews and Ferreira are both now good quality options and not priority position. Zemura is a solid option if we need it but not knowledgeable on the rest
Newcastle have a load of LBs that are now possibly surplus to requirements. Matt Targett is another that could possibly be available (although has played more than Lewis). Paul Dummet is also still somehow at the club as well and was even given a 1 year contract extension the other day despite only playing 200 league mins in the last 2 seasons.
Ryan Giles would be the dream LWB choice - unlikely to get a chance at Wolves but nobody has signed him yet.
Are we actually playing with WBs though? Giles played LWB last season, is he as good at LB? Also, supposedly Boro want him back, and Leicester are interested, so could be tough.
