As I’ve said previously on this thread, having met Dyche more than once, I think Troy may have bitten off more than he realised.
Will Deeney or his mates respond to Duxbury's comments? Basically said he wasn't telling the truth in some circumstances and said more about him than the club.
As much as Duxbury is a lying toad I think he’s right on this one. Troy is desperately trying to get a media career off the ground and remain relevant and he thinks the best way to do it to become rent a quote and come out with more and more sensational stuff with every interview he does. The problem is after his book and a few of these different interviews the well is running dry so he’s becoming desperate. He’d rather ruin an actual legacy at the club for few cheap quotes that get the headlines for 5 minutes, it’s all very tawdry stuff.
At the forum last night a woman near me asked about what Deeney had said, some of which Duxbury said had been edited and you can't trust a podcast recording. She tried to point out that it was a video on YouTube and was definitely not edited, but he changed the subject.
Duxbury said they are they are still there and have never been removed. I did drive over a couple in my bad ass Skoda Fabia.
What a bizarre thing to say - sounds like he needs to see a psychiatrist about his out-of-hand sexual fantasies
I've finally finished listening to the podcast. I had to listen to it in instalments. I didn't have the stamina to listen to all that in one go. I thought he came across as a bit of a yob, very arrogant and self centred. It's all about him and how wonderful he is, and the people hosting it were lapping it up and massaging his ego. He's not very bright either. I had to double check where the Queen was born. Does he think she's Scottish because her husband was the Duke of Edinburgh? Sadly I think you are right, he is tarnishing his legacy. I don't know if he is, but I thought he came across as bit of a bully who always gets his own way. I can only speculate what the atmosphere was like amongst the squad when he was captain, but knowing the type of person I am, if I was a player I wouldn't have liked it one bit. As captain, he's no Keith Eddy is he.
He's at it again, claiming that Harry Kane probably didn't work as hard as him and wasn't as good to heading or holding the ball up. Another podcast where looks like he's drinking... Put the red cup down Troy and stop saying stupid ****...
Probably didn’t need to work as hard - had the ability and commitment to stay fit and in good touch .
I know Deeney in his prime was a great athlete and a top goal scorer, but I think even at his top levels, Kane was the overall better footballer in finishing and technical ability. Both of them are/were great players' at the top levels of the game, but where Deeney has declined performance, Kane has kept his fitness and mentality making is easy to see why so many people wanted his signature in the Summer. I love Troy and always will, but if he lands himself in another Twitter row over this it won't look good especially as he is trying to make an impression at FGR as player coach.
Deeney is probably right. Remember all those times Harry Kane came back from the summer enormously overweight to the point it took him months to get back into an acceptable match condition? ....oh, wait....
WADR: well, duh… one has scored 59 international goals, the other has never even played an international match…
Deeney was never a great player at the top level. He was a very good Championship striker for three seasons who struggled in the Premier League for the most part, particularly after the first couple of seasons. He was then crap in the Championship when we got relegated.
"Can Kane head a football better than me? No." Kane scored 10 headed goals in the PL last season alone. Deeney has 27 PL goals total. I don't think heading is that much of an issue for him...
The bloke is a complete and utter ******* moron. One of the most cringeworthy, embarrassing people to listen to on the planet. Maybe one day he'll learn to just shut up and stop making a absolute fool of himself but he's borderline brain dead so I doubt it.
I actually had to look up what WADR translated to. Never seen it before used, so I got an education in text chatter. You make a valid point though, I wasn't thinking straight when I typed that.
I didn’t know it until @Steel City Gold used it a couple of days ago! Yes, there is simply no comparison between them. Don’t be drawn in by Troy, he’s talking nonsense! To be charitable, perhaps he is being set up to talk nonsense?
18 of his 47 PL goals were penalties. So in his five full seasons in the Premier League he was a solid 6 goal a season striker from open play. It's mind boggling that we kept him as our main striker for so long and didn't upgrade him, especially as he gave progressively less to the team's all round play every season. Turning down the massive Leicester bid was a terrible error.
Please bear in mind that this isn't even the only tragic delusion he's engaged in today: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxxdaYcIgr4/?igshid=NzZhOTFlYzFmZQ== So as soon as he got out of jail for savagely assaulting a student on a night out, he loped back into London Colney and big-boy'd his way back into the starting lineup, because he was 6 foot and jacked at this point, and Zola was 5 foot 4, so he had no choice, because of the implication. What could Zola ever had done? He couldn't have stopped such a monster if he tried. He would have simply run out as part of the starting team, and subsumed the lesser Italian. Full kudos to Jermain Defoe, who despite operating at a far higher level throughout his career than Troy 'I'm a big boy' Deeney, seemingly continuously plays the role of 'overawed younger sibling' with total aplomb.
The way he goes on you'd honestly think he was Mike Tyson in Thor Bjornsson's body. He talks about himself like he's some sort of mountain of a man and it is so, so cringeworthy. All he's ever been a slightly chubby, mostly very average sized man.
September 2023: Zola said to me 'we've got eight strikers, you're going to be ninth choice' August 2016: Zola said to me 'we've got a group of seven strikers, you'll have to work your way back in' https://www.google.com/amp/s/talksp...remarkable-journey-prison-premier-league/amp/ Can't wait to see how many strikers we had when he tells this story again in a few more years, fifteen? Five hundred?
Just think how many international goals Deeney would have scored had he been picked ahead of Kane. One thing is for sure, we wouldn’t still be harking back to 1966.
I got fed up with looking up peoples abbreviations a long time ago, now if they can't be bothered to write the words in full, I can't be bothered to read them.
