No one ought to go to support these shysters or the Pozzo regime. Our last two debacles will be against teams that play in red and white stripes. Gary Porter a proper player and lovely lad (met him several times) is a local Wearsider. Wilf Rostron also played for the Mackems. And someone named Phillips less said about him the better. Luke O'Nien still plys his trade there too. Wearside is a hotbed of football and they are slowly working their way back. A famous teachers club but with most of the silverware accumulated in the past. They still attempt to follow their club motto Consectatio Excellentiae the pursuit of excellence. Something which we don't know anything about. Anything other than a drubbing by four or five goals will be a shock to any Hornet who dares to watch this. Any that do need to be certified. Quite likely to be a Roman port settlement with exports of salt back in the day the name Sunderland was applied by a Saxon king of Northumbria to a portion of land given to a local bishop. One of the three original settlements being Jarrow with it's monastery and fine early codexes. Back in the day Venerable Bede used to turn out for the local football matches. In time shipbuilding became an essential part of the landscape right through to the 1960s so a almost six hundred year history with the contribution of the yards to winning WW2 vital. Salt exports along with coal and glass are part of the history of the area too. A trip along the coast is well worthwhile for walkers, naturalists and photographers. A keen hotbed of the union movement and marches on London Nissan has offered some hope after the loss of the local coalfields and shipbuilding. In general people from the area having been there a few times are very warm and affable. Jamies vis-a-vis Mackems is what they prefer. Being a great grandson of Nostradamus I also predict Moog saying I hope we lose in this thread. Honestly the club is in such a low ebb. Surely this is the nadir or can it get worse ? Pozzo ought to join the Conservatives as like anything they touch it turns to absolute turd. He's slowly also morphing into a belligerent generalissimo that brooks no opposition. On another note about industrial relations have you heard about the Banana Massacre ? It's referred to or used a model indirectly in Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude. Corporate America has yet again it's nasty sordid hand in this with the killing of hundreds of workers merely demanding better pay and working conditions to free themselves from abject poverty. Emiliano Buendia was not involved in the making of this novel either or related to anyone in it. I suggested once that we sign him. Never mind. What do any of us know. Papa Pozzo is cleverer than any AI. And how long before AI gets involved in scouting ? Our scouting up to the Ubenga era (by era probably six to seven months) has used a completely different model. Plucking names out of a hat is what they call it.
Indeed for those souls on ReadytoGo bring the picnic hampers and enjoy the show. If you don't manage to win or score less than three goals be ashamed. Very ashamed. RTG is a great message board by the way. They know their stuff. Very equitable lot. Perhaps if the Rokerites are kind enough they could put up Pozzo Out banners. I don't think Pozzo is allowed to bring his own brownshirts to away games is he ?
Bendover and his ilk. Do you know if it had not been for Lord Pozzo and his faithful disciple Scott of Tower Hamlets we'd be in the National League South, ground sharing with Wealdstone and having to get the bucket out each weekend to fulfil our fixtures. And you know that's our rightful position in the footballing Universe. How dare thee question the commandment of the footballing God. Watford shall never rise above the third tier of English professional football. Believe in the Holy Trinity of the Mogi, Pozzo and Fuxbury for yea they have saved us from Satan himself. That false fallen angel with the red hat.
This is my local fixture, no, I wont be going now or I might just go to boo the players off the coach and go home.
Not going won't watch it and don't care. Forget AFC Sunderland its about time we look at AFC Watford.
Play the same unmotivated disorganised bunch or excuse them and throw the kids into a cauldron and huge defeat that they may never recover from ? Either way, 4-0 defeat in an irrelevant fixture feels about right. God I hope there is a plan to change everything this summer. Just a manager and bunch of players fighting for every ball, for every point, would be a start. Pretty much no chance of this. The owners lost their magic tough in the summer of 2019 and I very much doubt they will ever get it back.
We would surely have to go bust/admin for that to happen, we are nowhere near that right now with such a brilliant owner financial management. Ah crap.....
Poignant to think that the last time we went up there, they were the basket case and we were (on the face of it) a well-run club punching above our weight
We still lost there though and that game was a good example of the problems of the Pozzo set-up that were already apparent back then - an often disorganized and under-motivated group of largely fairweather players, who had enough skill between them to accrue enough points to survive in the Prem for a few seasons before over-reliance on a porous defence and Deeney following Ighalo's goals drying up eventually became their undoing. Up to that point (or close to it) despite, or maybe even because of all those disparate nationalities they'd been generally a likeable group of players with a good team spirit but then with the exception of some periods (the first third of 2017/18, the 2018/19 season and the second half of 2020/21) we just didn't have that sense of togetherness and bond with the fans that generally Brighton, Burnley, Palace, Bournemouth and Brentford have had a lot more of over their successful periods.
I reckon he'll take a majority stake in the Bill Mainwood programme hut and sell the rest to a Deliveroo driver at Frydays
I predict a win here, a triumphant blast from the foghorn of HMSPTL and silence amongst our fans who will remember that Pozzo is the best.
Going to this, stupid decision. Sitting in one of the home stands with a Sunderland mate, only reason is to be sat next to people enjoying themselves in hope that it rubs off for beers in the evening. I’ll put more effort in on the day getting there than we will. 2-0 Sunderland
We must play some different players in this game. I don't mean talk about it or just put some different players on the bench. The players we have used recently clearly don't care, anybody else cannot put less effort in.
Definitely would play Morris and Adeyemo. Nowt left to play for. Strip Pedro of the captaincy as well. -----------------------------------------Ortelli-------------------------------------------------------- Andrews---------------?--------------------------------Proteus(c)---------------------Morris-------- -----------------------------Kone----------------Bacuna-------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------Asprilla------------------------------------------------------- -------Sarr-----------------------------------------------------------------Sema-------------------- --------------------------------------Adeyemo-------------------------------------------------------
Personally wouldn’t play Bacuna ever again. Waste of space and won’t be here. Ortelli Andrews Porteous Abbott Morris Kone Louza Sema Asprilla Blake Adeyemo They will get absolutely destroyed and probably quit professional football after the humiliation of being 15-0 down at HT, but I would rather them play then anyone else who is fecking off in the summer.
Remember when we had an entire second 11 that comfortably went toe to toe with Spurs in the league cup.
Really couldn't care less about the result either. Just play some players who want to be here. Use this week to trial formations and setups that suit the PLAYERS WHO WANT TO BE A WATFORD PLAYER, and use that all week. Keep the players like Morris, Blake, Andrews and Adeyeno hungry and wanting to play for a place next season. Sarr doesn't deserve a start in these last two games neither does Bacuna, Louza, Bachmann and even Pedro who seems to have shut down for the season early. Let's just try to enjoy these final two games, and who knows, we might even get a win over Stoke final day at home with a youthful setup. At least that could spark a glimmer of a change going forward. Wilder has no excuse now to not change the lineup.
Can the club sign a fan to a short term contract of a week. Would be great to see the club reaching out to the fans and building a bridge. I reckon quite a few of us could put in the effort and even a little skill on a level comparable to the efforts of local man for instance. Namely Local Man is utter garbage for the job he's supposed to be good at.
Unfortunately we won’t win either of the last 2 games. I just hope that on the final game of the season, at home, the masses storm the pitch, surround the players and give them the mouthful they deserve. I also hope that fans have the balls to sing Gino get out of our club all game, followed by banners of Gino Out all around the stadium. When stewards go to interfere I hope they get outnumbered by fans and back off. We have a right to protest inside the stadium. Finally I hope that fans surround the directors box and refuse to let Gino, Duxbury, Bayat and Giaretta leave without hearing from the fans. none of that will happen, well the “we won’t win another game” will, but nothing else will happen sadly. Our fans will clap the players off the pitch, renew their season tickets, tell us that Gino has earnt the right and time to fix this, even though it’s been 4 years of continuous disaster. Followed by inviting the players onto their podcasts to talk about the season and what went wrong, so they can’t be seen causing unrest.
