I am going to put as much effort into this preview as our players have over the last two games. ..... Done. Prediction: Coventry 3 Watford 1
Their keeper has set a club record for clean sheets in a season apparently . He’ll probably increase that record .
Oh without a doubt. We won't even get near their goal all game I expect. Coventry are a good side, they proved that when they ended our winning run pre world cup. They still have an outside playoff chance, more so than we do. Should be a very easy game for them as our lot coast through the match. I hate being so negative about my side, but what else positive can you really say at this point?
Gyokeres with a hat trick. The next time we win will be next season in all probability and only if Pozzo buggers off or realizes that he has to stop interfering with the football side of things at which he is utterly incompetent.
Because we are contracted to do so for each game.* *we're not, I just like the self-inflicted torture....
4-0 to Coventry. The away fans will demonstrate far more than the 'Happy just to be here' home crowd. Happy Easter to all WFC fans.
I was planning to go to this, but when set for sky I decided to save my time and money. Are the players going to bother at all or are we going to see the lazy approach from recent games.
Not going to let these disinterested, mercenary ****s ruin my bank holiday weekend. Popping down to my brothers house for a few beers and some retro gaming instead.
Legend has it that Coventry was the birthplace of St. George, dragon slayer and patron saint of England. Britain's car industry was founded by Daimler in a disused Coventry cotton mill in 1896 George Eliot lived and went to school in Coventry. Life in the city around 1830 was the model for Middlemarch, her most famous novel. All modern bicycles are descended from John Kemp Starley's Rover safety cycle, invented in Coventry in 1885. The city was the birthplace of jet pioneer Sir Frank Whittle, the poet Philip Larkin and the pop impresario Pete Waterman. George Orwell wanted to use Coventry as the model for his study of poverty in England during the 1930's. But he found it too prosperous and took The Road To Wigan Pier. Coventry has two universities (Warwick and Coventry) and three cathedrals - the ruins of St. Mary's, destroyed by Henry VIII, the ruins of St. Michael's, blitzed in November 1940 and Sir Basil Spence's new cathedral, consecrated in 1962 and recently voted Britain's most popular 20th century building. The expression 'true blue' has Coventry origins and dates from the 14th century, when cloth dyed Coventry blue became very fashionable and expensive. The first tank, the first traffic indicators for cars and the first dumper truck were built in Coventry. The first motorised funeral was held in the city. The phrase 'sent to Coventry' originated during the English Civil War, when captured Royalists were imprisoned in the heavily fortified and strongly pro-Parliament city. They were given a hard time by the local people. Chuck Berry recorded his number one hit 'My Ding-A-Ling' at a Coventry dance hall. Coventry will easily beat Watford.
I was going to take the kids to this given the outlaws live in sight of the stadium but they’ve been extra bad recently. So I’ve lined up a trip to Sunderland at the end of the month instead. That’ll teach the little bastards.
I went to Coventry v Hull a short while back and they are a fantastic side. They play fast attacking football and it was a good atmosphere. Anything other than a home win will be surprising.
A list of Coventry achievements and you ve not mentioned The Specials ? Apart from that good history stats
Very good point…we all know about Halls depression and childhood but.. a) what were the Specials (AKA) originally called? b) who produced their first album? C) who were the four Steve’s in the Watford side the year that Ghost Town hit number 1?
A-Coventry Automatics but we’re formed from a myriad of bands that Dammers poached them from B- Elvis and I don’t mean Presley C- Dunno this a Specials quiz not a Steve quiz
- Who was referenced in intro to Specials first hit and why? - What three classic Jamaican ska songs were covered/stole for the b side from their first EP to top the charts - What other lead vocalist sang on a top 10 single for The Special AKA ?
Space Invaders ? Sounds like the opposition plan for getting round our back 4 Mario Karts? sounds like the vehicle designed to remove an ageing Gaspar from the pitch Pong? Sounds like the smell of donkey manure that emanates from our changing room.
On a serious note, watch us win. Players know the play-offs are out of the equation now, they are simply playing for themselves and a move away in the summer. Wouldn’t at all surprise me if all of a sudden we see players pulling their weight and putting a shift in to put themselves in the shop window. It will be a performances from here on out that makes us all angry, knowing full well they didn’t play like that all season.
Very interesting story after a little research regarding "Bernie Rhodes......." He was their manager for a while and whilst on tour with the Clash or the Damned the Specials were blamed for wrecking a hotel room . The manager held one of their guitars until the damage was paid for even tho it wasn't the Specials who caused the damage which Bernie Rhodes knew ..... something along these lines
