Not sure what more people want from a backup striker. He knows the league and has scored plenty of goals at this level, I'm much happier seeing Britt on the bench than Manaj or Bayo. Going from Davis, Manaj and Bayo in the matchday squad to Davis, Araujo and Assombalonga is a very decent upgrade imo.
I wasn’t in favour of this but as a cheap short term option that enables us to cut our losses on Bayo it’s really quite sensible.
Can’t say I’m too enthused about this, although if it keeps Bayo out of the team then I guess it serves a purpose.
I’d rather give Assombalonga a few games before deciding if he’s any better than our current hapless group of strikers.
An obvious point of view but we need more goals . Apart from giving Sh*t Town a going over I cannot remember when we were last 2-0 up and comfortable. We always seem to be chasing the game or holding on to a narrow lead .
I did admire his slavish devotion to Gino's ways, but even his mask slipped when he had to pretend he wanted Gaspar ahead of Ethan Laird - 'ummm errrr, he's not exactly a flying machine but he'll bring us some other qualities...errrr'.
5 goals in 19 starts. 75 goals in 155 Championship starts. As a possible secondary option off the bench? Yes please.
Oh that’s interesting and positive had him down as injury prone in my head, maybe somewhat unfairly haven’t followed his career extensively.
No offense to him, he's had a solid career away from us, but you'd be forgiven for thinking he was an Ashley Young-type player with the level of excitement they're showing
An experienced championship player is a tick in the box for me. And to be fair to Britt he is a goal scorer and has a pretty decent scoring record wherever he has gone. It’s not like we have a prolific goal scorer on the books so he won’t have to score many to be our main man. I also think he will be a good influence on Adeyemo
Not a particularly glamorous signing, nor one many of us would have picked at the start of the window. Two things in it's favour: We have rightly complained about a lack of desire recently - players going through the motions and not giving their all. Britt back at his first club and with a point to prove / contract to earn - expecting full commitment. Also I wonder if we might go two up top with Davis and Araujo available (and still the risk of Sarr going) - in which case extra options makes sense. On a six month deal I'm not going to complain too much about this one.
A low risk signing whose goal return couldn’t possibly be any worse than Bayo or Davis. Makes sense as a punt.
I can live with it being a 6 month deal. If we had given him 2+ years it would have been the same old rubbish but signing him for 6 months actually isn't the worst business we could do.
Not fantastic as a signing - but I’m oddly intrigued and think it’s got a small chance of looking shrewd. Hardly one to get excited about but we have certainly made worse signings. And I’m not really sure he’s any worse than Keinan Davis either.
If he can get on the end of a cross and not boot the ball so wide of the goal it leaves the postcode (Martins) then he's in. Davis is still marginally better technically than Manaj or Bayo but still very unconvincing in both desire and workrate. When Pedro comes back he will no doubt be our main attacker, as if this guy can keep fit and score a goal - no harm done. Just need a new RB, CB, CM and decent backup GK now. Two days left.
Decent option if intended as a backup. Somewhat disappointing if intended as a starter. Contract length would seem to indicate the former.
We shall sing his name to the tune of “all the single ladies” by Beyoncé! Britt Assombalonga! Britt Assombalonga! He score go oh oh oh oh oals he scores goaaaaaaals! *note - when I say ‘we’ I don’t mean me, I mean someone else and this is purely dependant on him scoring goals - if he doesn’t, just do some rambling to The Conga or something. I’m too miserable most games to do anything past intermittent grumbling
