Nice preview Skyla, hard to disagree with your synopsis. I'd probably go for the "We're screwed" option in the poll. Perhaps we can get Bilic and ****s playing again.
I can’t make this one. Last home game I missed was the drubbing of the L#ton. Good omen. Watford 0, Blackpool 3
We had the perfect team, certainly for the Champo, in 2014/15. Goals everywhere, motivated players, strong defenders who chipped in with goals, Abdi running the show and scoring important goals like at Reading. Toszer with great set pieces and the ability to blast 40 yard free kicks in. A proper leader as captain. The best goalkeeper in the league. A perfect Championship side, we should have won the division by 20 points. No wonder we thought our owner was a genius. Now we have a rubbish right back in midfield and Paul Bayo up front.
Of course we were 2-0 down to this lot in that season. Came back to win 7-2! Not sure if we would have 7 shots near the goal these days .
I'm tearing up now... Such brilliant memories of that side. Deeney was destroying Championship defenses, Iggy was turning into a star, that memoriable 2-0 over Boro' that was seen as a promotion winning game, winning 4-3 (or was it 3-2) in a real topsy-turvy game at Bolton...
While I agree with this to a point (mainly because I know we need players), the window always gathers pace towards the end. We can’t make teams part with players when we want. Most clubs will be waiting before they get players in before they let them go - and as a result of not having much money and probably not being at the front of the queue for many targets, we can’t flex our muscles and are largely at the whim of other clubs. Bilic has been around long enough to know how it works. He’s also been pretty clear he wants players who won’t automatically drop out of the side when others return from injury. I suspect we could have got a fair few ‘sticking plasters’ by now had that been okay with Bilic.
I see from the Watford Observer that we are to be treated with the officiating skills of Gavin Ward for Saturday's game who last looked after us at Kenilworth Road in April 2021. Can't recall his efforts that game although I think he ruled out a Gray goal for us, sent off Kiko and gave them a pen for Dan B p*****ng about too long. Even if those decisions were OK (??), this is the idiot who has been villified by quite a few EFL managers/teams/supporters for incomprehensible decisions in recent years. Difficult to recognise him as he's normally surrounded by players shouting at him! For a quick reminder of his reading of a game, this pair of decisions in the Swansea v Boro match in March 2021 exposes his considerable inabilities. I will be happy to admit on Saturday evening that I was completely wrong as long as he treats us like he did the Swans that particular day. I'll leave Dean Ashton to explain.. https://twitter.com/i/status/1368314956379271172
Oh yes, even my mild mannered cousin called him every name under the sun. He is an utter arse! Ward, not my cousin!
Choudhury being available is huge. Just hope he’s actually ready and not being rushed back (again). I’d like to see what Martins can do as well. He’s been training with us for 2/3 weeks now, so no excuse not to.
2-0 defeat, Choudhury injured again, Martins and Ferreira look utter gash. Feel free to quote this at 5.00pm tomorrow.
Will start on bench and be brought on for last 15 mins as we chase an equaliser. Feel free to quote this at 5.00pm tomorrow.
