Wben you list players that shouldn't even be at a club at our level and with our asipriations, you negate your own point. Gosling, Cleverley and Kayembe are just bodies. They don't offer anything else. for what they bring, we might as well just stick Catchcart of Bayo in midfield.
Good thing we signed him He's been pretty much everything some on this thread expected him to be. A largely uninspiring but competent enough stop gap, while we get other midfielders in/back fit. Has been around a 6/10 in every appearance but thought he excelled today. Marshalled the midfield, picked up lots of loose balls and actually seemed to have a bit of energy left when we needed it in the last 15 mins. Fair play to him. Still needs to shift some weight though.
Yeah been solid enough . Not great with the ball at his feet but positionally he’s been intelligent and generally protected back 4 well.
In fairness to him, and I say this as somebody who has zero faith in Pozzo at this point, Bacuna has been more effective than pretty much anybody in this thread would have imagined. It’s ludicrous we’re having to play him into fitness, and I wouldn’t be shocked if his body broke down before that happens and he picks up a longish-term muscle injury, but for what we thought we’d be getting, I’d say he’s performed above expectations and proven to be relatively decent so far.
Andrew French @androofrench Bilic confirms Bacuna has hamstring injury. Will need time to assess how bad. Plan was always to give him 45 minutes to build up his game time. Hungbo wasn’t injured. Bilic impressed by Kone #watfordfc I get Bacuna wasn't fully fit when he signed, but he's been here a while now and he's played a fair bit, surely this wasn't necessary?
As I’ve said elsewhere, Bacuna is crap. If this injury means the club go out and source 1-2 quality midfielders as a result this week, then Bacuna getting injured is a positive strangely. And this is giving them credit that they perhaps haven’t earned - but I really suspect there will be a couple of incomings this week.
I wonder if the impending return of Choudhury means the owners will scrimp again in midfield? Him and Kone in midfield certainly has promise even if we have next to nothing in reserve now
I don’t think it will mean they scrimp and save. Bilic has been far more adamant than previous coaches about his needs. Maybe I’m giving them far more credit than they deserve, but that’s my current opinion.
We surely need a striker more than a midfielder. Gaspar can do a job and Kone must be a starter. That of course assumes that Kayembe and Choudhury are not far away. But we look v.light up front and are relying on Bayo for the foreseeable, with Davis and Pedro some way off fitness. That said ideally we would bring in both
Fortunately we have a couple of "kind" home matches before a February that could be season defining. Can we get most players fit and get reinforcements before February is the question IMO ?
I don't think we'll miss Bacuna for he is gash. We'll just have to make do with Kone, Gaspar and Asprilla for Blackpool if Choudhury isn't back.
That game was horrific, Millwall even more so, Millwall even more so than Millwall and Swansea the worst. How the hell we are even near the play offs based on those 4 matches is beyond comprehension
Open as in pick and choose when to try and play for our bunch. Good job its mostly against the top teams and Scummytown
The more players we have out though the more strain it puts on the players that aren't yet injured, if Choudhury plays against Blackpool, will we have the option of taking him off after 60/75 mins?
