Hopefully the ground situation can be sorted for you soon.

Certainly one of the best teams we have played .

Organised and strong whilst being good on the break and having a real threat up front .

Unfortunately our owner has different priorities than developing the squad.

You're only saying that because we lost today.

On another day, Davis' goal is not disallowed and their player is ruled offside for their goal and we win 1-0. Then you'd be praising the Pozzos for treating our squad needs with arrogant contempt and packing the squad with square pegs and expensive dodgy looking signings from friendly agents at inflated prices.

I've always liked Cov. Since we were beaten in the 87 Cup semi and I supported you against Spuds in the final.

You had an excellent away day today. Good fans from the off, and a perfect away performance from what looks like a solid team regardless of your off field troubles.

Good luck for the rest of the season except when we travel to Highfield Road of course lol!

Our owner's priorities are anyone's guess. With the pitch situation in August we had quite a few postponements which caused some short term cashflow problems. Rather than provide the bridging finance the owner told the club to fend for themselves which meant Dominic Hyam was punted to Blackburn on the cheap to cover the costs. Now the stadium is actually up for grabs and from what we can tell they aren't going to bid for it or entertain talks with Mike Ashley who seems to be leading the chase.

Yours does at least in theory have a very generous set of parachute payments to work with. Don't waste the funds on expensive players who probably won't be sold on at profit and won't have the same hunger to succeed. Get top talent from this league and the ones below, maybe a few quality loans.

Think you told me the same thing 2 years ago! But yes many thanks for the good wishes though if you go to Highfield Road you won't find a pitch there...

Good Post. Thing is you hit on a massive point. The lower you go the less class exists in the players (generally) but there is a "cusp" where a manager has to work out how to get the best out of his squad. Yours knows very well what your strengths are but you can't assume that give him 3 good players will mean you can play a proper classy game. Attack us all game a d you'd have been hammered.
Our problem is we're stuck in nomans land... Not good enough to really "take it" to every team we play but also we get hammered when we try and sit back.
We're basically a proper conundrum team, hence our ridiculous scope of results.

Gyokeres, Hamer and O'Hare are quality players for the Championship. The rest work bloody hard but sometimes lack the technical quality to do things like convert chances or good attacking positions. I think you like a lot of relegated sides come in expecting to just throw money at the most expensive players you can afford and expect them to get you over the line. It barely worked for Bournemouth last season and really Forest deserved to go up automatically.

If you focus on exciting young talents supported by a few marquee players, you have a fall back option if you don't go right back up.

We don’t throw our money at the most expensive players we can afford. We throw money at players who will benefit our owner’s agent best friend. Hence us paying £5m for a player who is deemed inadequate to be a championship impact substitute on this very thread.

    Our owner is a disgrace.

We're quite different to that actually. We only spent money on one player this summer but he wasn't the most expensive one we could afford. We are bizarrely in the pocket of a seemingly corrupt agent and only spend money on his players. So we blew our whole £5m budget on a player that's not really up to the job and had only been signed by his previous team for £1m a month earlier. Oh and that team is owned by the agent's brother.

    That's our transfer policy!

As bad as I thought we were today, I think had we managed to get someone like Cameron Archer in the summer, we’d probably be winning games like today as it’s a different, quality option.

Sadly when we bring on Bayo, there’s no excitement or expectation of anything positive. If anything the expectation is that we may actually get worse on the pitch.

Yep. I assume Davis and Chowdhury cost a significant loan fee. You would hope Hause is more economical given that he simply is never fit enough to contribute.

But who knows with Pozzo. The guy once had to effectively buy Zuniga after a loan even though he was on a new loan in another league.

There's more chance of Kayembe completing a forward pass than Gino Pozzo doing this. Unless Mogi Bayat represents some EFL players?

Yeah, basically the type of team we used to have years ago.... The good old days. We never knew what we were going to get week on week but we went for the ride and enjoyed watching players who played their heart out for us (and we connected with them)....

Frustrating game, but one that will happen during a Season. I don't think there was a lack of graft shown today or complacency that we thought we would just turn up and win by going through the motions. Coventry just had our number and Bilic couldn't adjust to their gameplan with the options available.

Coventry doubled down on our biggest attacking threats of double marking Sarr and Kamara after 25 minutes to prevent the overlapping runs and gave Pedro no time to settle into the game and develop a rhythm to his passing. It was easily his worst performance this Season by a long way and hopefully he takes some lessons from having additional attention focussed on him during games now that he's become a clear dangerous player for us. Davis looked half fit and lost most of his duels which prevented us being able to bring either Pedro or the wingers into the game reliably whilst Sema is being hamstrung on his weaker side and once again looked the more dangerous of the two wingers. Kamara lost his composure and is now once again suspended.

Bachmann overall had a quiet game. Managed to produce a respectable punch at one point but couldn't have done anything for their goal which was the fault of Kamara abandoning his duties there on the flank. I remember him launching an excellent throw which set off a quick attack. More of that please. WTE I thought was genuinely fine. Did a lot of good things and although near the end of the first required Sierralta to put in a good sliding block, he held his own well as every CB will be beaten during a game. Speaking of Sierralta, he's so poor on the floor and lacks agility. Was OK in the air again though. It's like watching a younger, more raw Sebastian Prodl. Kamara badly faded after 50 minutes and is a player who should have been dropped for a game or two before now, if nothing else for his own sake as he looks very tired and leggy as his good deliveries were not enough to paper over some dire moments.

Kayembe looked OK again and looks to be finding a proper groove under Bilic where he does more at what he is good. Would like to see him shoot more. Choudhury was poor I thought, worst game I've seen from him this Season. I've already given my view on Pedro and the attacking three.

Not a lot to say about that. Let's just move onto the next game, hopefully with some painful lessons learnt on how to break down a low block team.

    What should Bilic do?

    Bachmann

    Gaspar - WTE - Cathcart(?) - Morris

    Asprilla - Choudhury - Kayembe

    Pedro - Davis - Sarr / Sema

Graham, Sordell, Deeney (pre-crap), Holebas, Smart, Wright, Gifton NW, Helguson, Hyde, Doyley, Mooney - players that actually played for the shirt and went the 90mins everytime if it was possible. Players us as fans' would still clap off the pitch after getting mashed 5-0 at Wimbledon.

He was poor vs Cardiff as well; also against Wigan until his goal at the end.

I thought it was a funny old game we had 67% possession and were very close to scoring 5 times (at least), one of those games when it’s destine not to go in, as others have said we need to get the ball forward quicker, we aren’t going to create chances tippy tapping along the back line, may be do that when you are a few goals up!

Worrying that was just about our strongest line-up, best to call it an off day and we go again on Tuesday!

Sierralta would have been useful against Andy Carroll on Tuesday but luckily we have Kabasele to come into the side. He loves aerial duels so we should be fine there.

Feels good to be one of the 5 brave heroes who predicted a Coventry win. Just LOL at the 29 saps who thought this bunch could win 4 in a row.

And fuccin LMAO at the twerp who said we'd never drop below 6th place.

TBH don't people get accused of being too happy clappy now if they are applauded the players off after a defeat like that?

I've seem people comment generally when we have lost this season how odd it is seeing some still clap away.

I’m seeing an upwards trend in performances so I’m not too disheartened by this defeat , I don’t see it as some kind of proof that we are doomed more just a bit of a set back .

I think the result can also influence how you feel . The performance was probably better than vs Wigan (albeit at home where you’d expect more attacking intent ) but that was generally seen as a gutsy win .

Does anybody really clap a team off after a 5 nil defeat? They are complete morons if so, but don’t if ever happens! Did any fool clap at the end of the 1-5 defeat by Leicester for example?

I have read articles about how tired the Watford players were feeling before the game.
Sarr said that he was tired after the game on Wednesday. I guess fatigue can set in, but other sides in the the Championship seem to be coping well.
No back four in mid week, you can't count WTE as a CB. Reading will sure float the ball into the mixer at every opportunity. Avoiding a defeat would be a plus.
A tricky away trip to Bristol City. This will be a very tough game.
We could go into the break with a run of three defeats and a mid table position.
Yet, we are crap, but somehow sit in 7th position. I guess we keep going as most teams appear to be as poor as us.
    Very open Championship.

    FC Annecy (14th) 2 Sochaux (4th) 1
    A comeback win
