Of course it’s raining - heatwave for Boardmasters, monsoon for Reading :D. Luckily for my daughter and her troupe, they’re all travelling to Reading today so won’t have to contend with leaking tents as it’s supposed to be dry for the rest of the weekend. Might not be anywhere to actually pitch their tents once they get there, but at least they’ll be dry with nowhere to go!

Yes shouldn't be too muddy at Reading and as you say the rest of the weekend will be perfect, dry not too hot etc !

My son was texting me at 7am from a field in Reading this morning saying his new £25 Halfords tent was leaking, (who'd have thought)? I told him it's what his sisters went through so deal with it, (but keep your sleeping bag dry).

Top tip, they're charging £3 for a cup of boiling water but the salvation army tent give it away for free.

    Brown.

Apparently you need a special wristband to be able to purchase alcohol from the onsite shop as it proves you're over 18. He said he's already found some Watford fans who are happy to help him and his friends out.

When my youngest lad went to Reading a few years back phone camera footage of his lunatic behaviour (which involved climbing about 50 feet up some apparatus in a tent and swinging like a gibbon on a trapeze) 'went viral'. He was very proud.

Forecast to barely get above freezing Thursday and Friday.

Now is the time to start looking out for neighbours. We live next door to an 88 year old woman and not once during the past winters has the lazy cow been round to see if we are alright.

Joking aside, a worrying week ahead for those who may be unable to heat their homes.

I'm working at home refusing to put the heating on. Feckin freezin. The answer long term could be heated clothing. I've got a heated waistcoat and heated gloves for my motorcycle - they are amazing. Pennies to charge the batteries; they heat you and not the whole room/house.

I have managed to avoid putting the heating on so far this winter. We are not on mains gas and our bills are obscenely high now. Have got away with it so far as our house is well insulated and our heating system is all underfloor so the hot water heats the house to a certain extent and towel rails keep the bathrooms nice and warm. This is the latest I’ve managed to go without putting it on but not sure I’ll hold out this week - think downstairs will still be ok but it all depends on how much bitching I get from the girls about their bedrooms being cold.

I have a very elderly aunt who lives alone in a big drafty old pile in the middle of nowhere. She has no children and I am her only relative. I have bought her a buzzer to wear around her neck and if she has a fall, she simply presses it and it alerts the local estate agents

Tbf, I’d bet on them getting there more quickly than an ambulance or social services.

We appear to be on a special tariff called All Your Money. It appears if we simply give EDF all our money, we can keep the place warm.

I signed up to this Octopus energy saving hour thing. Switched everything off and buggered off down the pub. 79p credit to my account. In addition to the electricity saving.
Just about funded a bag of pork scratchings.

Just over £3 in kickback for the 2 hours. So total of £3.79 in kickbacks for a minor inconvenience.
This will fund one whole pint at the social club, which will take me somwhat less than the 3 hours to consume.

Here's hoping energy rates quadruple over the next period so I can take up drinking professionally.

I was out early walking the dog this morning and the sky at sunrise was stunning. Unfortunately I didn't have my phone with me so I didn't get a picture of it. Did anyone else see it?
