I can't see how even Gino et al can continue to wheel Edwards out at gunpoint every week to gush lovingly about his right-back options and how deliriously happy he is to have been gifted such a cornucopia of talent, and not enter the free agent market - especially when we know there are options that would at least give us a chance of starting to play in the style he supposedly favours. If they don't, it's even more profligate than the insane profligacy I liked to shout the word loudly about at the time last season when we refused to fill the squad list before being forced to bring in a centre back just in time to be out injured for the season, owing to lack of any appropriate pre-season.
I think we'll be left high and dry by Sheffield United and Norwich, but I don't really think anyone else will be consistent enough to pull away from us, I think we'll scrape into the playoffs before probably losing badly a la Hull
That's what I said, too top 6. We are very close points wise to top 6, but our performances in many matches didn't warrant points we got, so in my opinion, that kind of nullifies the injury part.
That would be a failed season though. You don't keep Sarr and Pedro and settle for less than top 2 imo. I know the rhetoric has been a bit more reserved, but any other aim really doesn't make much sense.
How many points have we got that we really didn't deserve? West Brom for sure, Burnley I think we were lucky in the end to win it, but every other point we've got has been pretty well-earned I'd say, a few games we probably should have won but didn't
I think Gaspar at the least has enough to contribute that he can make the bench. So it's strange he was left out entirely. Could be Rob trying to motivate him.
I'd be pleased with a top half finish this season, win more than we lose and gut the squad out. Let Rob build something and gain some traction. We have no right to be in the top 2 and even if we did go up next season would be a repeat of the last 2 Premier league campaigns. I don't want the Pozzos to get away with it again by throwing enough 5hit at the wall and hoping it sticks
Not winning promotion this season, after not selling JP and Sarr would almost certainly have disastrous effects for us in the future, but I'm not sure you could say it'd be a 'failure' for this squad considering that for every good player at this level, we have more bang average players. There are 3 teams who will go up this season, are we the third best team in the league?
Well if it is it's an even worse reflection on him than I thought, but I suspect that it's just because he's not good enough, as you can't really motivate your way out of Gaspar's issues
Those two games are already 3 or 4 more points. That would put us somewhere between 18-22 place currently. We weren't convincing in other games either, but these two games are enough to prove my point in my opinion.
Low expectations indeed. If we finish say-10th, do you really have faith in RE kicking us on? I think (depressingly) that it's only downhill from this point under this regime. The idiots couldn't see that we needed a capable right-wing back, or better midfielders this summer ffs. It'll more of the same unbalanced shyte squad building minus any quality. RE would need to improve ten fold as a tactician if you think the future is anything other than mid-table Championship for years to come.
To be honest I have no clue anymore if it’s the fault of the recruitment, the fault of the coach or the fault that the players aren’t motivated. What I do know is this shambles has been going on for as long as I remember and, if I was the owner, I’d have figured out the fault and corrected it by now unless the fault lies with the owner…
Something isn't right . If RE preferred way of playing is with wing backs then the club should have backed him and purchased the best available RB in our price bracket . Kamara is more than decent at LB IMO.
I cannot stress this enough, Gaspar is utter gash. He does not have the stamina, pace, fight or ability to play in the Championship. He's a complete and utter dud. Ryan Andrews from the U21s would be a better option and our U21s are dreadful.
Absolutely this. It could be the manager or the recruitment or the squad mentality. I have no idea, I can't work out anything and after 2+ years of utter crap, I'm past caring. Come home repeatedly fed up and wondering why I bother apart from the great people that sit round us and it being a family thing. There's no obvious thing to rally against as the whole thing is an utter mess. Could GT get a tune out of this lot? I genuinely don't know if he could.
He wouldn't be in a position where he'd need to. Gt would not manage for a club who deal with the likes of Bayat - the signings of Bayo, manaj and Gaspar would just not have happened under GT.
Yeah, i was thinking hypothetically. He'd either have walked out of the interview or resigned shortly into his tenure with a statement about being unable to to deal with players forced on him without input, brought in by people more interested in shifting money around. Probably accompanied by a genuine, heartfelt apology to the fans.
The fact RE would rather have no RB in the 18 than pick Gaspar is such a damning indictment on the board. #PozzoOut
We've now only picked up 7 points from the last 7 games.....which includes that last minute winner against Boro, as our only victory during that time. Can't believe Edwards is not under pressure now. 7 points from 7 games is what got Xisco the sack. It's not as if we're playing well and have been unlucky.
I don’t think they feel they have any fault to rectify. Buy a guy for a couple of million and then sell him off for £20m. Bet they are quite happy really. Nothing to see here. Move on.
All well and good when you're in the premier league. Sitting in the bottom half of the championship, you're not gonna see the same returns.
