Why substitute Kamara and leave Sema on, I was expecting Kalu to come on for Sema after we took the lead to keep the pressure on Sunderland Sent from my AUM-L29 using Tapatalk
Such a bad bad result!!! Absolutely shocking! Edwards needs to be sacked!! Freaking clueless prat! So many bad tactical decisions! Get this season over with!
Yet again we were mentally weak. When was the last time we kept attacking after taking the lead? Time and time again we get ahead and then let the opposition come at us until they score. I genuinely don't expect us to see a game out unless we score in the last minute like we did at Boro. It's a mental issue that predates Edwards but it's up to him to sort it out.
A significant improvement on last performance, but unfortunatelly that's not saying much. Yet again a dissapointing performance. Edwards is a likeable guy, and it seems to me like he's pretty well liked amongst squad, but he's just not good enough imo. Oh, and our defence is completely sh*t.
Utterly utterly clueless subs. Bringing both Gosling AND Kabasele on is shambolic and worthy of a sacking in itself. Another piss poor season where i’ve rapidly lost any form of attraction to attend week on week. On another note, the 1881 are seriously ***** these days. The away fans will chant something and the 1881 will follow up with the exact same chant but 10 times quieter. The “only sing when you’ve scored” chant is laughable, considering that’s what we do..
The club is a joke from top to bottom. Edwards is not immune from criticism either. He's not good enough, a performing seal would be just as effective. Getting serious Ben Foster vibes from him (trying to be everyone's mate, but useless at his actual job). We all know the hierarchy is a waste of space. The squad should still be good enough to put away these sorts of teams. Terrible result. This club is f*****d when we finish nowhere near promotion this season. I'm not going to waste any time or money on this shower of s**t this season. They don't deserve it. Genuinely can't find any positives.
Instead of our usual starting poorly but finishing quite well, we instead started quite well and finished poorly. And as with before, ending the match with a disappointing result. The subs didn't seem quite right. I'm not sure how Asprilla lasted the whole match as he'd stopped tracking back after 60 minutes. The shape seemed a bit better, but too often we seemed to spend a lot of energy working the ball out wide but to only have Davis in the box for a potential cross. Cathcart and Kabasele were both a mess when each were on the pitch. We need to somehow avoid playing either. WTE was actually alright I thought, his passing and moving of the ball was even fairly quick and not as erratic as we'd come to expect. JP was poor - he messed up pretty much every single final ball. Davis and Sema were good. Choudhury had loads of time to clear the ball for their goal, but for some reason decided to position himself way behind the line! We should have had a pen for a handball from our cross soon before we did go ahead, not that it would have likely changed anything. They should have had a red card for the nasty studs up sliding challenge on Bayo right at the end, not that it would have changed anything either.
The subs / line up at the end sounded bizarre but honestly what can Rob do? We are literally left with the dregs from the last 3 years that were still under contract and no one else wanted. Our squad is s°°t
A disappointed result. Deserved the 2-1 lead, then let them back in. Kabasele weak at not heading the ball for their second goal. Shame he ended up coming on. Drawing one too many matches at the minute.
The only real positive from today is that finally after many years we've had another Academy graduate score a key goal for us at the Vic!
I just can't really see how we can possibly be considered to be challenging for any kind of promotion with the squad we have, in the state it is clearly still in. We still look punch-drunk from last season, and half the players involved in that have left (though, of course, not enough of the ones that needed to). Today was an improvement on Tuesday, but only really in the sense that Tuesday was possibly the low water mark performance-wise for the entire Pozzo reign. We were still terrible for the most of the first half, and relatively lacklustre for the second, just with the odd moments of prolonged pressure and our star attackers getting the chance to jink their way to very little, in the end. Several times in which we didn't concede, our defence was shown to be utterly at sea, and then twice they were and we also did. This is a poor result on the back of quite a few, and increasingly poor, results. Still yet to see what Edwards is trying to achieve, what he wants the team to be doing, or that he is at all capable of motivating or organising them. Whether and how much that is his fault is a matter for debate, but what's not at this point is that it would (and should) theoretically have been possible to achieve more than this, even with this ragtag group of mental midgets. Is affecting that not a key role for a head coach? I'm still not yelling for Edwards to go, but we find ourselves between a rock and a hard place again - we know the head coach isn't solely to blame or perhaps even majority, but we can't affect the rancid nature of the squad during the season, so what change can possibly take place? The only thing we know is that we are in need of one.
I'd like to think the crowd gave them a hostile sending off today, but I'm guessing they applauded like the saps they are?
We looked so nervous and afraid for most of the game and it was inevitable they'd equalise. But I will give some credit to WTE who I slag off constantly. He was positive in his play, crisply hitting his passes and attacking the ball defensively for the majority. But overall poor. Agreed that Asprilla needed to be subbed he looked knackered and did track back.
Hungbo and Kalu would have been better options. Asprilla and Sema were shattered. Roberts was ghosting past Sema. Both should have been subbed for Hungbo and Kalu, fresh legs with pace. Not our manager, the clueless prat brings on Gosling and Kabasele, changes the formation. Sunderland had so much space out wide and we let them. We didn’t press them at all for the final 15mins. This is all on Edwards yet again. He is crap! He doesn’t need time, he needs to go. A better manager wins that game today easily.
Setting aside all the valid points others have already made, surely some scrutiny needs to be given to the fitness and conditioning of the side? Constant muscle injuries, players looking gassed after 60-70 minutes even in games where the opposition are doing more of the running than us. My take was a big part of the reason we dropped off so dramatically in the last quarter was the players looked shattered.
Cut and paste the relevant player names over the last 10 years and the same was said about the other 17 managers on here.
Even if he was injured why bring on a striker in place of him!? We got battered down our left in the last 10-15 minutes. Edwards is horribly out of his depth and clueless tactically. Would've made more sense to stick Hause at left-back with Sema continuing in front of him to protect us down our left. I give up to be honest. We are a f**king shambles from top to bottom! We will regret not forcing through the Sarr and JP sales as well. Will go for a fraction of what was asked for in January when we are about 16th.
Far more boos than claps in the Rookery as the final whistle went, but the usual Stockholm syndrome like power-clappers piped up once a handful of players started their lap of the pitch.
Played 4 full backs today of which 1 is actually a full back. The insanity of bringing on a CB who had been dropped for being a shi£ CB and playing him out of position at RB during their final push for an equalizer beggars belief.
Well that was not as bad as Tuesday overall but let's be honest it wasn't much better. Sunderland dominated that game from the first whistle, although we did actually start quite well for a change. Great goal from Davis to open the scoring and a wonderful peice of play from Asprilla in the build up - it was against the run of play, but what a mess at the back for their equaliser. Too much space and time and everyone not doing their jobs, I hate to pick on one particular good player but that first goal could of been prevented if Choudury had read the danger and cleared it. Overall, I thought 1-1 was fair at the break. Second half we again started well but we needed a peice of luck to take the lead, an OG - which is normally something we do, for once went for us. Sunderland kept on knocking and got their reward when Edwards showed he has zero game management by bringing on a striker when with 15 to go, we should be defending the extra two points. Nope. Kabasele - who should be nowhere near this club by now let alone the starting lineup, donkey's a header and it's a free shot. Total clown. Cathcart wasn't much better and WTE had an alruight game despite hoofing the ball to nowhere half the time. Davis my MotM but nobody really played well again. Sunderland will feel agreived to not leave with the win - they deserved it on balance and on that we should be happy with a point from a game we should of lost. We dropped two points due to woeful game management and judgement by Edwards. Kabasele can't be totally blaimed for being crap now - he's getting older and he was awarded with a three year extension. It's another forgetable performance where for the tenth game this sesaon, we play poorly overall and limp to a point. This squad is awful, despite having a couple of good players, and we wlll be nowhere near the top six come May, let alone the top two. Going by his constant mistakes, Edwards (although he is a decent guy but so was Xisco), isn't cutting it, and he will be gone before Xmas I think. Doesn't matter who's in charge between now and January - we have this squad, they will have this squad, who continue to persist with the same old performances week in, week out. No real drive to win a game. It was better than Tuesday, but we still should of lost on balance. Even when we went ahead for the second time I knew we were going to bugger it up, You can say one thing about Watford - it's very predictable at the moment. Until certain people go - it never will change.
Yep. The only rational reason for Keeping JP and Sarr were if the board genuinely thought they would get us promoted. Another epic decision by the looks of it.
The good. WTE fairly solid. ***** long balls aside Davis looks a gem Kamara tidy The bad. Dreadful subs today Pedro should have passed Kayembe last 20 lost the plot The ugly. No RB Players looked gassed last 20.
We've just spurned an opportunity to bring in over £50m into the club from those two sales and won't go up anyway! Genuinely think we will be close to the bottom 6 than the top 6 come May!
And to top of the total f**king misery, we will undoubtedly drop 6 points to those c**ts down the road.
This squad, on paper, should be good enough to finish in the top 6 and batter alot of teams at this level. The lack of viable RWB is shambolic and the piss weak defending is embarrassing, but compared to the vast majority of sides in this league, they should be doing far better.
Whisper it, but isn't this all looking a bit like a power-positivity rebrand of good old Roy? No discernible style of play; inexplicable substitutions every time; players who look like they can't be bothered and don't give a shyt; naked favouritism to certain terrible players and a weird ostracising of others. The only real difference is the physical attractiveness and honey potion poured in your ear, instead of bile.
