Great result. Much needed three points. We need to improve fast. This is not a promotion winning team at present. Mid table at best.
Scrappy 2nd half, looked like heading for a draw. Then Bayo turn up in the right place to slot home late on. Lovely . Back into the play-off places. On to the next one.
Well not sure we deserved to win but who cares right now ! Love an injury time winner . Rob with inspired subs .
Paper over the cracks, no, but a decent performance against a team who should be up there come the end of the season, probably our best performance of the season yet, with no proper RWB, a limited midfield and Kabasele still involved, improve in just one or two areas and we might be really motoring
Bayo with a a Delilah Smith call out to forum members…let’s be having you then. I think that’s Pedros last game
Gaspar to Bayo. Goal. 3 points. Somehow! Doesn’t mean either of those two have been good signings so far but they’ve earned us two points between them and deserve the plaudits, not snide comments. They are wearing our club shirt after all. I was starting to wonder about Rob but fair play to him, somehow he’s got out of jail there and the win feels great on such a special occasion. Now let’s see what tomorrow and Thursday brings.
Gaspar assist, Bayo goal. Both having a nightmare but pull it out of the bag. Fingers crossed it gives him Bayo confidence after his poor header. Pedro superb again along with Kayembe and his Cruyff roulette. Still need to find a ball playing CB. Kabasele terrible deliveries. Still not getting Sarr into the game. Great to see the resilience in the side after falling behind against one of the promotion contenders. Cannot afford to lose JP or IS as we're painfully thin on squad depth especially playing two games a week. Kamara showed what he can do at LWB. He's being squandered at RWB. Shame Norwich grabbed a winner in injury time. RIP Vince McNeice, Sammy Chung and Tommy Carpenter.
Still worryingly incoherent and unable to turn it on for more than limited spurts. Really struggling to see what Edwards is trying to build currently but maybe things will settle down once the transfer window slams shut.
Kayembe, Pedro top class. Other solid performances. Feel very happy with the result, but you have to worry about our defence and the keeper had a mare for the goal. Get a RWB!!!!!! Hause did well when he came on. Did I mention that I am happy with the result?
Thought we shaded the first half, second half despite a horrid horrid start, didn't start the second half well, but ended it brightly, capped off with a wonderful injury time winner!
Ka-BOOM. Boo boys connecting to get the last minute winner, you've got to love it. Probably the best game I've seen Joao play, brilliant all night. We were really quite bad for significant parts of the game, and our squad is very reliant on individual brilliance from Pedro or Sarr. It's frustrating as it really wouldn't take much more quality to elevate the team to a real leading Championship team. When it clicked tonight, though, we did look good. Let's see if Papa Gino (or Uncle Mogi) have any surprises up their sleeves before the window slams shut.
Just because he scored a last minute winner doesn’t mean people should give him a nickname already so let’s stick to his full name please Get in Mogi Bayat Special £5m Bayo you little beauty!!
I really hope we can push on from here this time. Still fragile at the back but great going forward, especially Pedro and Kayembe.
And ‘jokes’ aside, not an amazing game but you can’t beat the feeling of a last minute winner! Kamara looked a massively different player (for the better) on the left. Kayembe I thought was excellent tonight and would normally have had a mom with that performance. But Joao Pedro. Oh my. For 25 minutes he was literally unplayable. And decent for the rest of the time. Assist and a key role in winner. I really hope we can keep him.
We were not very good tonight and one of the main reasons for this is the lack of a target man. Pedro is fantastic and plays the false striker role so well. I really like Asprilla but he’s not quite ready yet. I’d move Pedro back and start with Bayo up front and stay on the shoulder of the defender and give them problems, allowing Pedro to roam free.
Watched the last 35 minutes so can only comment on this but incoherent is the correct word. Unimaginative could be another. The defenders and midfield sit so deep the only outlet is to our wing back who then has nowhere to go but back again. The only thing we create is a quick break every 10 minutes when a loose ball from a hopeful punt bounces into our path. Boro were the better team but didn't have the quality of Pedro /Sarr for the 1st or the luck of Gaspar's deflected shot into Bayo.
Now Mr Joao Pedro that was ******* special. Feel like I’m witnessing his growth first hand, better passes, better upper body strength, better decisions. 46 games of 90 minutes will do so much for him.
Barely one good performance, players regularly filling in out of position, transfer disruption, manager straight out of league 2 trying to implement 3 different systems with players he hasn't necessarily asked for. 4th in the table, 2 points off top. The league really is sh1te, and I love it.
It was a very good game to end our winless run - I think we just about shaded it in the end but my god we do not look comfortable at the back. Bachmann was back to Flapmann and really should of saved their goal - but again, the guy from Chilie had a mistake which is unlike him. I think it's a confidence thing, and hopefully something Rob can work on in training. We looked ok in the middle in patches, Asprilla wasn't really on it tonight but I think the occassion got to him a bit, might of felt a little star struck. Lovely to see the clap on 72 in memory of the great man too . What an equaliser by Sarr, terrific peice of play and what a finish that was. 1-1 felt about right at half time, but we started the second half slowly and gave the early inititive to Boro', with a few Cathcart errors and a wonderful save from Bachmann midway through the half more than made amernds for his error earlier. As it drifted into injury time it did seem it was going to be yet another draw, but credit to Bayo - it was a poachers goal - if he scores 20 of them this season then fair play. Sort of reminded me of an Andre' Gray goal, did he mean it? For once, don't care - it counts and we grabbed three valuable points. Quite the range of scores tonight too in the Champ, with all three relegated sides winning and QPR doing well. Looks life Sheff Utd might be the early pace setters then. It was important to win after we lost at the weekend, but now we look at the final two days of the window. Let's be honest there is more chance of us losing Sarr/JP than us bringing in a RWB and a box to box player. I think Bayo might actually come good now he has his first goal - all we can do is wait and see. Fantastic night though, and nice to see so many old faves at the ground. It's been quite the one hundred years for the Vic, seen a lot of managers and players - hopefully Edwards can be the next really successful manager since GT - but maybe that's getting carried away.....
Wonderful take from the much maligned Bayo. Pedro and Sarr too good for this league. Just need to balance the midfield and we will piss the league. Thank you Vicarage Road!
JP is a seriously good footballer, if he’s still here at the end of the week then enjoy every minute of him as he won’t be here for long.
Huge. Bayo took that goal realllllly well, fair play to him. That was good in spells, but still a bit iffy. We have the makings of a good side, and add Hause, Louza and Davis to that team and it suddenly looks so much better. Kayembe improving too. Add a RB and that’s a very good team. Sierralta looked shaky again, and Bachman really needs to learn to leave his line. Could be a huge night in our season.
If JP and/or Sarr go we are screwed. Brilliant for 20 mins in the first half but need to do that for longer periods. Shame on all of you who wrote off Mayo, they've won us 4 points so far. I never doubted them Oh and in case it wasn't clear, Kamara should only play on the left. Sign a ******* RWB!
Well 2 goals both scored from strikers came from behind and won Sierralta - please find your form again Kabs - please don’t become the liability you were a few years ago JP - superb , driving force for both goals (I’m sure he chested the ball down and passed to Gasper) very good tonight Sarr , good goal , not sure how much else he did tonight Asprilla, will be very good Kayembe for parts of the match was outstanding , Sema on the whole not bad Kamara came to life when played on the correct side Choudry on the whole good, nice crunching tackles Bayo don’t care if he is **** and nobody likes him, if he stands in the right place and sticks it in the back of the net it’s good enough for me they were good so to win shows we can do it 3 possible penalties (not sure if there was anything in any of them though), 14 shots , 4 on target , at least 5 players able to take On and run past players , maybe some of them should think twice before bringing in tricks
