Also, I can see why the top managers are wedded to one system when they have the resources to do so. But it could be that there’s not much transfer activity and Edwards looks at our squad and thinks he can’t bring his FGR shape over to us exclusively. Think a few people are jumping the gun when talking about targets and whether they do or don’t fit his system.
Lol, so he's still not started for Bristol City and only made a few brief cameos off the bench. Today they even started a 19 year-old central midfielder ahead of him at RWB. Then when he did come off the bench today he seemed no quicker than Gaspar, and too weak - he was falling about all over the place. There's absolutely no way he'd have been good enough for us this season. Perhaps as per my comment above our manager really was aware that he wasn't going to be up to it and there's a reason why he's only joined Bristol City. Some of the melodrama in this thread and elsewhere when his name has been mentioned is, as is common, absurd and amusing.
Maybe so, but back in Watford we are still having to play our best left wing back out of position because the rocket scientists in charge of our squad have yet to secure a dynamic right wing back as we move towards gameday 6.
Sure, but Wilson is not that dynamic right wing back. Gaspar and an out of position Kamara both look better options than him right now, even though both still have their flaws.
Against League One Wycombe (found his level). (and yes I'm aware we lost to a slightly better League One side, not that such games really mean anything)
How on earth do you go from Laird to Gaspar? There is no connection there with regards to playing styles. Their similarities stop at 'right sided defender'. It completely undermines everything Duxberry has said about supporting RE. Either they can't help themselves to bag a bargain and are massively penny pinching, or they don't have any faith in RE, and want to either support him to make certain tactical choices or are hedging their bets for the next manager.
Unless Ngakia is going to make a remarkable comeback, I still feel we'll sign a RWB this window, putting aside whether Sema, Kamara and Gaspar (and indeed Ngakia himself!) are suitable, surely 3 full-backs/wing-backs competing for 2 places in the team is not enough
How so? I was congratulating him - it's a feat of memory of which I'd have been proud (aside from the fact he'd actually reminded me of a good point I made).
I mean come on pal, you’ve literally just gone back and quoted (and heavily clipped and edited, lol) something I posted months ago in another thread. Do you have no self awareness?
I see Wilson managed 5 substitute appearances this season, and has only featured twice since August. We didn't miss out on much then!
So League One is indeed his level. So much for all the meltdowns at us supposedly having missed out on him!
