Fact based examples can only , by their very nature , be from the past . Otherwise they would be speculations . And facts are generally agreed to be a solid way to build and present an argument on . Certainly better then hyperbole and myopic subjectivity .
Anyway when is this xxxx signing ? Has he missed his personal helicopter flight from Manchester as well.
Another Twitter suggestion that he rejected us - would that be likely? Closer to home at Preston and maybe thinks he is more likely to play at a settled club.
Heads up, mods @domthehornet @HappyHornet24 etc a phone number is shown in the post that @NathWFC is quoting here, it's not mine, not sure if it's Nath's, or a mods somehow?
Probably one of the burners for one of my sock accounts. I've probably got weirdos leaving voicemails right now.
Thanks Dom for sorting and thanks @WatfordTalk for alerting us. Sorry - I’m down in Cornwall at the moment so not on here as frequently as normal.
And yet a so called coach at the club sees fit to have a hose pipe on for half an hour for the last eight days for a water fight for the "sports camp" venture with the cricket club oiks. In the hottest summer on record. Spare me! Is this chap coming or not?
Mike McGrath @mcgrathmike · 19m Manchester United have agreed a season-long loan deal for Ethan Laird to move to #QPR, according to sources at Old Trafford #MUFC @TeleFootball
Manchester United defender Ethan Laird close to loan move after Watford deal collapsed - Manchester Evening News Sounds about right for us. Lined up Laird, all agreed, then we sign Gaspar and could not assure Laird first team football. Just bonkers how we operate.
Tough to swallow. With Sarr and Gaspar he wasn't going to get the minutes required by Man Utd I suppose. But no doubt Sarr is off and we could possibly be down to one RWB. Maybe they're looking at the Arsenal guy instead.
Sorry, I disagree to an extent. I presume that Gaspar was the main target with Laird the back-up target (I am speculating here by the way). We secured the main target and cooled on signing Laird (we have Ngakia as well, don't think we need 3 RBs.)
There goes the fantasy some people had cooked up that Gaspar was playing RCB and we’d be recruiting a pacy right wing back
Laird as a wingback over Gaspar for sure. But happy to have Gaspar onboard as a personality and would expect he'd settle as the RCB. To play RE's system correctly, you need a high energy player in the wingback position. I like Gaspar a lot, but that's not his game. But, reading between the lines, it seems that Gaspar has come in as the wingback, which has surprised me, and if that is the case, why were they after Laid anyway? It makes no sense to sign two RWB's as both would want to be first choice, or else they wouldn't sign.
Your speculation is of course possible, but it reads that it was very much Laid/United who didn't want to do the deal after losing assurances of first team football, which Watford must have given initially or else it wouldn't have gone as far down the line as it did. Ngakia seems to be on his way out. Links to Hull, no involvement in the first team so far, and is clearly not a wingback. He's more of a traditional fullback, so I can't see him getting too much game time under Edwards.
Likeliest thing seems to be we wanted Laird, Edwards was happy with that and was going through. Then we were unexpectedly offered Gaspar on a free, can't turn a bargain down so took him, Laird and United took one look at that and thought we weren't serious about game time and his development so shelved it. I presume United also charge loan fees for their in-demand youngsters. Thought it was interesting that Edwards made the point that Gaspar isn't 'a flyer' when he signed but can hopefully help us in other ways. Seemed an odd comment and perhaps reading too much into it but given that his wing backs were his primary source of creating chances in his last team and Gaspar is much more defensive than Laird, read it as 'good player obviously but not the profile I was after'. Be interesting to see who has the better season, my money is on Laird...
Yep, Gaspar isn't what Edwards wanted but Gaspar is what Edwards got. Expect to see Kamara filling in on the right quite a few times this season.
The club can at least tell us that they tried to get a homegrown RWB. Leaving Edwards with a slow 31 year old Spaniard was just unavoidable unfortunately.
Imagine my shock Replace the sarcasm of superstar RWB from Belgium with slow, legs have gone 31 yr old Spanish RB, and there you have it. Giaretta is an absolute joke. Would not shock me in the slightest if he is somehow involved with all the MB mess. Hence the large agent fees etc, keeping him sweet. I wanted Giraldi out, but my word would I take him back in a heartbeat over this gigantic clown. Giaretta must be sacked.
