Amazing result. Did great to come back after being wiped out in that second half. Congratulations to the lionesses
It's not coming home. IT'S HOME. Well done ladies, you have done your country and nation proud today and throughout the footballing world.
Kelly desperately wanted that corner and then the goal... Lots of happiness in our house as she's from just down the road from us. Well done Chloe!
They have gone on a journey and taken the country with them. Hope they enjoy every moment of being national treasures for the rest of their lives. Sent from my SM-S908B using Tapatalk
I cannot remember the last time I’ve enjoyed a sporting tournament so much. Joyful. Inspiring. Exciting. A month of wonderful football, terrific primetime tv coverage and it ended in the best possible way. Congratulations Lionesses. Especially Alessia Russo lol
We already know sadly, the answer is a resounding NO. The womens team is light years above the mens national team in terms of desire, attitude, application, passion & pride.
And light years behind in terms of the quality, professionalism and maturity of their opponents at the top level. England Women played against amateurs at times in this tournament! They’ve beaten everyone they’ve come up against and deserve all the credit for that. But it’s currently a sport with a small number of elite level national teams and it shows in the results a highly professional and well-funded team (without a complete Phil Neville numpty in charge) can get.
So glad i got to see a couple of England games live including the opening game. Amazing achievement. Final was certainly an emotional roller coaster. Played with so much determination, and hopefully will inspire many more. Reminds me of the feelings from the Olympics 10 years ago...
Southgate take note , that’s how you motivate a team of talented players to play with positivity and self belief instead of constant fear of losing . I was at the game today and the atmos was brilliant . Truly magnificent.
There was a lovely moment on the BBC coverage before kick-off where they interviewed the young girl who’d been captured dancing to Sweet Caroline after the semi. It was such a wonderful piece of television. Her joy and enthusiasm were so beautiful, especially as they presented her with a football shirt given by the lovely Alessia Russo. It summed up everything that supporting football should be. Pure happiness. Excitement. Full of possibilities and hope. Sadly a million miles away from the old cynics most of us have become! It made part of me yearn to be that age again. And for me it captured the tournament in one moment, No drunken fans trying to gatecrash the final without tickets. As others have said, no negative tactics. No cynicism. Just a month of pure joy, a tournament you could safely bring your children to, a competition that made youngsters think ‘one day I want to be like White or Mead or Knight’. Blimey it was even shown on terrestrial tv too and at primetime. (Well done Roben, whose commentary I think has been excellent) No pay-per-view or having to find dodgy streams. It was treated with the respect it deserved, and boy did it respond! I’m off to Trafalgar Square now to celebrate. Fantastic!
