You do know it’s just a rumour based on this..

    For now .

Nothing seems set in stone .

Hes going to the MLS. Sell on clause is pretty irrelevant.

Even if he absolutely pisses the league noone is paying big money for players from the MLS.

Didn't LO literally suggest it may be 'their fault for not renewing him last year'?

Yes - if you read my post my anger is with the owners, not LO. Thought that would be blindingly obvious.

If he wants to go and play in the MLS for Columbus ******* Crew then that really is a mental decision on Cucho's behalf.

One of the sad things of relegation and of not having much money. You really can’t control who stays and goes. While we all like to reason that ‘I can just about stomach X and Y leaving as long as Z stays’ etc, in truth it sadly rarely works like this.

I can only presume he kicked up a fuss and wanted to leave .

Or we are that skint that anyone worth money will go .

How much did we pay for him if anything ?

Came from Granada when the Pozzos owned them I think.

No idea, but we signed him from Pereira. Can’t find a fee but according to transfermarkt, at the time we bought he was valued around £200k.

Don’t forget all those loan fees as well ;)

I think I remember seeing that Granada bought him for 200k from Pereira. Fair play to Gino, it's a massive profit on a guy who played less than 30 games for us.

I wonder how much profit he'll have netted us over the years, we'd have been paying at least some of his wages over the last 5 years (didn't Getafe pay a loan fee for him too?)

Whatever the merits of discussing the standard of the league he’s now in and the financial mess surrounding us etc, I don’t think the following can be disputed..

A squad seemingly so short of goal scorers has sold a player who quite likely would have hit double figures next season

And a squad, that without being unkind, does seem to lack very many players that actually get you on the edge of your seat, has parted company with somebody who did bring some excitement to our otherwise rather plodding team.

    So sad.

Said it then and will say it now, he would of been perfect for us in the Championship. Good luck to him he deserves better than Twatford.

I also add, a squad that lacks many players who display a will to win and a passion for playing, has parted ways with a player who showed both in abundance.

First player in MLS history to score 4 goals in his first 90 minutes of playing time.

What part of the rule of 11 and Edwards specifically asked for a random Mogi Bayat client that no one’s ever heard of who’s had half a good season in Belgium in his entire career and who is definitely more suited to his system and fits the profile of player he wants *deep breath* do you lot not understand?

The club as usual are laughing at how stupid they think we are, quoting rule 11 and then immediately bringing in two overseas players whose combined talent isn’t even close to the one we let go. And yet some people will actually believe it.

In response to @hornetfan in the other thread about a possible sell-on percentage, and following on from my comment to Burnsy, he was already just $4mil shy of the record MLS purchase. By far the record sale from the MLS was Almiron at $20mil who was a terrible flop.

I can't imagine anyone offering more than $5mil extra max for him even if he keeps his scoring up. Even then it would be foolish unless it was a super rich MLS club. Maybe a BL club might also try it.

"It took a then-MLS record £20 million ($27m) fee for Newcastle to lure Almiron to England from the United States." (Goal.com). These figures are supported by various Newcastle and MLS sources, although one source did suggest that the initial payment was only £16 million with later add-ons and other Newcastle sources believe that the final fee may have been as high as £21 million.

I agree that Almiron has not been a successful signing for Newcastle (as is shown by the fact that he was used by Eddie Howe as a bit part player last season).

None of us know how much any club might be prepared to pay to sign Cucho Hernandez in the future if he continues to break records in the MLS. My point was simply that I hope that Gino Pozzo has negotiated a good percentage of any profit from a sell-on fee for Watford. My personal preference would have been that Cucho had stayed at Watford, but unfortunately 'that ship has sailed'.

Sure, and my point was that regardless it's unlikely to be particularly lucrative for us if it ever happens.

Isn't their a general belief that the standard of the MLS is increasing ever so slightly? I don't see Cucho ever being sold for more than $20m but surely if standards are increasing then whatever Cucho does will start to hold more value as supposedly the quality increases over there? Say he scores 20-25 goals there this season and next a La Liga team may bid 15-20.

Still don't think he has the decision-making to cut it in a top 30 European side.

I know its a small sample size of 5 goals but Cucho has the best EPL goals per minutes played than any other Watford player. Better than Ighalo , Deolefeu and Deeney.

There may be an outlier who might have scored 1 goal in 1 appearance but I cant think of any.

ML$ is definitely far too easy for him. 6 goals in 7 so far, and I think a few of those were sub appearances.

Still, it’s been fun watching Bayo and Manaj lash the ball high and wide.
